I'm angry.
Angry at the people who just stand in Lions Arch, and spam their WTS WTB's on Public and Trade chat.
And for some reason, they feel it necessary to use Caps Lock. So I'm trying to talk to my guildies, but it's so extreme that I have to turn off Local and Trade chat, which I often enjoy watching in case I see good deals, just to talk to my guildies.
Even in the lower leveled places (Ascalon, Shiverpeak areas), it isn't this bad. The occasional person might spam their wares on the Local chat, but most stick to Trade.

Anyone else angry at this?

quite a few will be bots.

it started when the trade chat got busy. to stand out they put their wares into all chat. more people started doing it. it has now reached landslide level.

needs to be fixed. many believe that an auction house will provide this fix. (i'm not so sure however, it will depend on the nature of the house)

yes!

I think it would be nice to auto-terminate the GW account of people who post anything starting with "WTS" or "WTB" into local chat.

But other then that (I am totally serious about the idea, btw!), I have no idea what to do with these people. Everyone who does it is a completly brainless idiot (or a bot which of course has exactly the same IQ) and it's hard to deal with that kind of people.

Actualy thats similar to an idea of mine.

Post WTB / WTS ect in local chat and you get a warning, also the message is moved to trade.

Do it a second time and you should be banned from local chat for 1 hour.

It dosnt stop you talking in guild or team, so dosnt stop you playing. But does help stop you from being a pain in the ass.

Of course there are ways around such a system, but im pretty sure it would stop the landslide that is local and at least make it useable, and as long as it was an intelligent scan system (for instance it looks for a combination of words used together not just WTS) then it wouldnt be to easy to get around.

Im not sure either if the auction house will fix the problem; what I know of a friend, at WOW they got spam:

Now, in auction house!!!!! blablablablabla

I've read somewhere on a GW site that the developers were planning to make a place for traders only, well those are only rumors, although I like the idea of it.

It's quite annoying to ask a question or look for a group when everyone is yelling; WTB~~~~~~FIERY SWORD~~~~~~~~15-24 DAMAGE_________________4k! in the local chat, then someone will mostly reply with "use the trade channel noob" and so on and on.

It doesn't bother me, and I admit that I even do it from time to time. That's what Lion's Arch is: it's a trade town. If you don't like it, I suggest you move to a lower district; because virtually all of the trade is in the first 4 districts. No one's forcing you to read their trade messages.

very true.

just see it as the (current) auction house of GW.
don't come there unless you are ready to be confronted with the spam.
also possible:
<click> local chat off
<click> trade chat off

peace and quiet. no frustrations anymore.

chill out.

i prefer to keep local chat on. incase someone is wanting to know something important.
sometimes i even keep the trade channel on. looking out for the people who are trying to sell Enslavement Stones. or the people wanting to buy armor! CHEAP!

of course when i point these people out i tend to get sweared at alot. so i've given up with that...

I turn off local chat and the trade chat In LA, its the worst town to talk to your friends or guild in.
I like Droknar, it is still busy but not that busy as LA.

i gave up my anger shortly after release...
got myself a superior rune of chat-ignoring (can be applied with 2 clicks) and it's standable - for a while...

*roams back to the international districts where less ppl walk around*

It's against the rules of the game actually, if i wanted to take the time i would show you where spamming the all channel could get you banned.

Anyways... i'm sure anet has more important things to do then ban every little jackass who can't simply press the tab for the trade channel.

It use to work fine... i mean heck, i always kept the trade chat off when i didn't want to find anything... And, i shut my local chat off when i wanted to trade... it was simple. It was obviously common sense. Putting it in the all channel would be appointed to more people that aren't trading, it's nonsense.

Just from my point of view... humans will be humans, right? Never using any "common" sense anymore...

And no guys, it hasn't been this way from the start... there might have been one person that did it, and normaly by accident, every now and then. I whispered to people that did, and they'd say something like "Oh wow, i didn't even know there was a trade channel, that's so cool...".

I've actually found that Droknar's Forge is the best for buying crafting materials. I only have to spam my WTB once and I usually get someone that has all I need.

what about if, in the new aution house when it's impliment, each person could creat their own "chat box" for what their auctioning with that person being able to kick people from the conversation much like groups are formed?

either that of start some cond of banning system where each time your banned the ban time double from the last eg

1 min, 2 min, 4 min, 8 min ect......

seen that work well in the past for a text based mmorpg
