Why isn't there an ignore feature for individuals in town?
heavyduty
Sometimes I get sick of all the spamming by the same person. If you could click on names to pm why wasn't there an option to ignore individuals at game launch?

Umm... you have an ignore list. Hit "N" to bring up your friends/ignored list. You can type their name in the ignore list and you won't see any spam from them again. Of course if we're talking about botters... they'll be back the next day with a different account/name.

He isn't talking about PSTs. He's talking about people spamming the local chat. Putting someone on your ignore list does not prevent you from seeing their local chat spam.

Yes, I also think ANet needs to fix this. In alot of the districts that I pop up in people get incredibly stupid with thier opinions, input, racisism, and just down right ignorance. Sure if someone spams your whisper you can just ignore them, but when they spam All chat then it becomes a problem. I don't wanna turn off my all chat just because ONE person is acting a fool, I'd like to just ignore him/her and keep doing what I was doing before that. I'm sure someone will say "change district" but in every other district I go to, there's a regular there acting an ass as always. Seeing as how ANet just cleaned out alot of districts and there aren't that many in most places now, there tend to be more asshats.

I fight spam with spam
everytime somebody spams the local chat with trade messages, I send them private message with the stuff I have to sell.

If you ignore a character, do you ignore all chars on the account? Like how adding 1 character as a friend is basically adding all their chars?

Ignoring one character ignores all characters on the account, same as listing one friend shows all characters.
Xonic
but the size of the ignore list is very limited, like 25 people? there are even more than 25 spamers in LA dis 1 at one time.

it's from other games. for example, in everquest, the command to send a private message to another player is "/tell"
so, over time, people just say, "send me a tell" if they want a private message.

Funny... it also looks like the "Pssst!" sound.
cangeman
All the MMORPGs I've played prior have all used /tells. PST is ingrained in me.

i find it hard ignoring koreans, they have funny letters and i cant type the letters to ignore them, instead i have to go to the hassle of finding them in the map, clicking there name, adding them, then uninviting them to show the letters, select the text ctrl + c, then bring up friends list, in the ignore box i would press ctrl + v and ignore them, seems like a long process but it works, i would perfer if gw had a thing were u could ignore them by clicking on there name.

I think that the original question has been answered and this topic is veering off course.
