Ever since the last update, I've been having some really bad problems staying connected to the internet. Just on a hunch, I decides to log when I got disconnected, and found when I checked my firewall log that at those times, it blocked an access to Ports 1026 and 1027.

I did a search on google for these two ports, and found they are related to the (Windows?) Messenger along w/ port 135. I was wondering if I could close these ports down w/o any adverse effects to GW, or are these two necessary to play the game?

Im basically looking at my Firewall log, and its blocking 1-2 attempts every 3 minutes.

Sounds more like you picked up spyware / adware.

Grabed this from gw support

Quote:
Guild Wars requires that both TCP port 6112 and TCP port 80 are fully unrestricted and accessible inbound and out. If you are connecting to Guild Wars while on a campus or business network, please consult your network's administrator to verify that these ports are available. If you are on a home Local Area Network (LAN) or behind a router, please make sure that your network's hardware is properly configured.
