Ascalon Bows

From what I understand, Ascalon Bows can be any kind class of bows (short, long, and composite). My question is collectors consistent with the type of bow they give out?

For instance if I got a shortbow disguised as an Ascalon Bow from Collector A, and later on when I come back to that collector and trade for an Ascalon Bow, that bow will be a shortbow as well? Or does it change everytime?

Yes - collectors will always give the same type of Ascalon Bow.

Thanks I suppose the only way of identifying which a class the bow is is to observe how it works in combat?

that and the graphics....each bow has different geometric visual look to it.
