The challenge is to go through torturous, mind numbingly boring months of lunacy to have number 20 next to your name.

That person is seriously messed up.

Everytime I see her (him) there's always a crowd of gawkers. Plus there's a thread like this in every major forum every few weeks or so. I'd say thats why he did it, and its working.

People may gawk, but whoever it is I really feel sorry for him.

This game is boring enough as it is, to actually spend months doing nothing but to let charr level up just so you can kill them? Oh my god.

Everyone knows who it is I knew her when she was like.. level 13 or something, but then, she was the only "high" level around, now, 50% of the players in pre-searing are level 10+.

I'm level 16 myself, 90% to level 17, and yes, getting to level 20 from where I am right now would take me about 5-7 months so no thanks.

He/she probably gets enough crap as it is. Don't make it easier for people to find and spam them to all hell with questions and comments.

Haha - It's great how lots of people make a goal to be a level 1 and be wearing 15k armor and others dedicate so much time into becoming a level 20 in pre-searing.

I don't have the patience for either! Chances are if I tried the level 1 with 15k armor thing I would accidently level, and I do not have the patience to stay in pre searing that long.

Also wasn't that sad back in the days.. Lure the bosses to the shrine, unequip armor, go to sleep

When you wake up, kill them, lure them again, go to school, come back, kill them, repeat..

Everyone could've done it

I thought you had done an analysis and came to the conclusion that it was impossible?

honestly...wow....a...level..20...psh i got 4 level 20's right now! why cant i be uber kewl?! I did the lvl 1 with 15k thing...very easy to do.

Level 1 being ran to droks: 3k
Level 1 being ran from rankor to war camp: 1k
Level 1 being ran from war camp to citadel: 2k
15k armor: ~90-100k
Having the feeling that people hate you for your efforts: priceless.

I just prefer saying it's impossible, since I don't want people to be spending so much time doing this. I always knew it was possible by luring Striders to the telporter near Ashford Abbey, and there might be other ways, though, it simply isn't worth it. And I tought it'd be more impossible then it actually is, but well, still isn't worth the time. It takes you 11 hours as a level 16 guy to level up a Strider to level 20, and that only for like 150xp, no thanks.

you don't. you simply level the monsters in there.

The method is stated above. it's QUITE boring.

they basically get the monsters to kill them over and over again so they would level, and once these monsters are high enough you turn around and kill them for the xp.

very boring... so much time wasted.... cant imagine what drove him to such madness.

I really cant understand the motivation to do this.. what IS the appeal?

I can only understand if someone were to do it the first time around as an experiment, but knowing someone else has already been the highest lvl in preseer, and lowest lvl in thunderhead... whats the point of duplicating their achievements?

There's motivation enough:
- No troubles not getting a group. There's nothing in Pre-Searing that's no soloable. And if you really need a group for things like Charr hunting, there's always someone to contact.
- No "OMG NOOBzsZ, YOU NO HEAL ME!", you're suppossed to be a noob in here, people are glad if you're level 8 already.
- More time to spend on getting the "perfect" item. It took me ages to get my 6-18 damage Hand Axe in Pre-Searing, and I'm still dreaming about anything better (Well, this *used* to be my biggest motivation, though, after knowing there's an exploit to trade between Post- and Pre-Searing, this motivation is kinda ruined, there's nothing you can't get in Pre-Searing anymore now).
- The chatting is alot more laid back in Pre-Searing, it's not always about the game.
- I love helping new people out, and that motivated me to get to level 16, and seeing the reactions (with of course some exceptions of assholes I shouldn't have helped) is always great.
- Getting messages like "WTF?!?! LVL 16 IN PRE?!?!" is always nice. Even though it's not always ment as a compliment, I just always recieve it as one, and those messages always make me smile.

This might seem much, though, there's of course even more motivation to play in Post-Searing. Why do I stay in Pre-Searing after saying Post-Searing is better? Well, if you like chocolate better then icecream and you only eat chocolate, you'd love the icecream after a while, and that's just like it's with me and Post- and Pre-Searing, after 1200 hours of playing.

We all have our own goals we want to accomplish in the game at some point in time.

Or maybe there's some freak obsession with Gwen, who can really say?

Why does everyone want to give him crap for doing this? This was his personal goal and he accomplished it, who cares if it would bore the hell out of you? That's why it's not YOUR goal.

People should either congratulate him or just get over it and move on by now. If you think it's stupid and don't care, then don't waste your time posting in this thread.

And by the way - the person in question is a very cool, laidback, nice guy. Congrats, man.

(and yes, the atmosphere in pre-sear is akin to a chat room, it's rather nice to hang out there).

EDIT: Funny that you edited my post to remove the name, when the whole thread is about this person...

To think he did it with basic skills also. No elites, no max dmg weapons, no Droks armor, sorta proves how EAsY this game really is. (smile)

I'd say it only proves the ridiculous lengths some people will go to in order to accomplish something.

It has nothing to do with skill or difficulty, just an absurd amount of free time and an insane amount of determination.

Well, if you were to only do your skill-quests, then finding a spot to grind XP...

....then do all your other quests for lump-sum XP...

...That should bring you to level 10-12, then you grind Charr until you get no more XP...so, level 15? Then begin to level the Charr...yeah, it's feasible and would require vast dedication.
