hmm.. I tried to post this in the right place but it wouldn't let me so I'll try it here..

I want to get back to working on this character during the next beta but I think he's, on paper atleast, of decent quality. So figured I'd put him out for scrutiny.

Davion Hunter (R/Me)

Marksmanship - 11 (+1minor)
Expertise - 9 (+2 major, +1 mask)
Beast - 5 (+1 minor)
Survival - 2 (+1 minor)
Illusion - 7
Domination -7

Bar skills: Powershot
Pindown
Hunter's Shot
Barrage (elite)
Conjure Phantasm
Backfire
Epidemic or Call of Disruption
Charm Animal

with the odd pts in survival , was figuring on substituting Barbed Trap if situation worth it

didn't try any healing skills but was also figuring that would be supported by team healer

am assuming this character would be hunting down rogue players or monk hunters

in truth I didn't want this character too specialized..wanted to be able to have a fair accounting in most situations...in PvE so far..he's excelled..but he's only lvl 8 now

sorry.. almost forgot something...the rune add-ons are after attribute distribution..and the survival was because I hated seeing pts staring back at me

All I can say is, you are spread far too thin on the Attributes. Stick to 2-3 for maximum effectiveness of the skills.

I dunno, Barrage is quite nice with a Conjure skill from the ele. lines.

I'm going to have to agree with FireMarshall here. As a Ranger/Mes player as well, I think you are spreading your skills way too thinly. It's best to focus putting points into just either Domination or Illusion, and dump the remainding points into whatver you like.

At lvl 8, I'd imagine Conjure Phantasm looks good because your bow isn't doing enough damage, but keep in mind that with 12 in Marks, you really should be using bow skills to deal the hurt, that way you get the most out of the energy reductions given by Expertise, and to reserve energy for intensive spells like your Backfire.

but with a 12 marksmanship and 12 expertise with the add-ons..i'd already have 2 attributes max with the expertise giving me a boon to the cost of backfire/phantasm

as far as survival.. its mostly treated as not there.. the pts and rune spent on it CAN"T be put anywhere else anyways so I end up with a 12/12/7/7/6
running 4 marksmanship skills as is and filling survival with the odd pts out just to use them.

as far as 2 max attributes and only one other to use...wouldn't that limit you somewhat if you're mostly running PvE. The only non-negotiable is the cat...during betas I run solo mostly because of the odd hrs I have to chance at playing. (mid - 6am EST)

Well, both Illusion and Domination are pretty versatile skill lines, I just find it a shame that you put so many points into both skill lines, and yet only use one skill from each.

But hey if it works for you, then go for it.

Edit: I just realised you talked about Expertise having a boon on your spells, you do realise that Expertise does not affect spells right?

I would drop Illusion and put the points towards Domination, then replace Conjure Phantasm with something from Domination (like Empathy -- Backfire for Warriors). Conjure Phantasm is godly at lower levels, but by the time you reach level 20, it's gone from great damage dealer to minor annoyance...

If you dropped your points into Expertise, Marksmanship, and Illusion (11, 10, 10) you could do some nice damage by using Fragility + Incendiary Arrows + Apply Poison + Pin Down. The reason I suggest using Wilderness Survival with no points in it is that with Fragility the target takes up to 28 damage when they get a new condition or recover form a condition. With this Incendiary Arrows with set them on fire for 1 sec, Apply Poison will poison them for 3 seconds, and Pin Down wil cripple for ~10 seconds. If you wanted to maximize the pain from the cripple form Pin Down you could drop all the Marksmanship points into somewhere else and it'll only last 3 seconds. Unfortunately your bow wouldn't be doing more than 1 or 2 damage with nothign in Marksmanship (unless they bring in bows that use Expertise) Hunter's Shot would work if you hit a moving enemy, and that is much easier after you've pinned someone down.

12 Expertise is a waste in this build. Either get it to 13 for 2 energy Barrages, or drop it back down to 9 and save the APs. Just knocking a point off of Power Shot is not worth it.

You are spread way too thin. Why are you diluting yourself with stuff like level 7 Illusion just for Conjure Phantasm? You have a bunch of mediocre skills, and attributes spread so thin that none of them will ever be dangerous. At least focus yourself a bit so that your skills can do something.

I agree w/ Ensign... I think you should drop Charm Animal as well, personally... but that's just me.

hmm...there's something worth considering... the esxpertise staying at 9 ...as far as the phantasm..I haven't been using it as a major form of attack...been mostly bow skills...It usually gets thrown in near the end for a little boost damage before throwing a backfire to coerce into trying to cast to heal..my bow actually does the same or better (better when I use a bow skill).. 12-17 base if I rmember correctly...and at present he has 9 marksmanship.

The nice thing though is... only 6days to play him..then I have to start all over anyways..so it can't hurt to fumble with him....only thing I know for sure is I still want to keep him flexible enough when I do run solos
