First off, let me say that the game is pretty fun. Its not what I expected at all and in that aspect it has also drawn some disappointment from me.
I was truely expecting an MMO and not just another RPG game. Sadly this game really is more of just an RPG game. Im not saying thats a bad thing, I enjoy rpg's alot, but the marketing of this game made it out to be more of an MMO, so I can see where alot of people can/are disappointed in it. In all actuality, it reminds me more of a NWN peristant world. I ran a module for NWN that was a persistant world (It was the one that Richterms Retreat had created and allowed people to download it and modify it as they seemed fit). A wonderful module as you had the elements of the rpg with the ability to have tons of people running around in the world at the same time.
With that being said, let me start my "wish" list out by saying, this game needs to remove the "tied down to the world" method. Any MMO out there today allows you to move freely within the world. No predefined paths, you can jump, swim, and in some mmos even climb. Predefined paths takes the game backwards, not forwards in its ability to become an MMO. There are many people who may disagree with me on that, but it is probably my number 1 complaint about the game. Thats what a full MMORPG is all about, the ability to freely move about the world and discover it. The way it is now, is more of just another single player RPG game. In that aspect, it can really turn away a huge player base.
Instances.... I love em, always have. when anarchy online introduced instances types into MMO's, it changed the way MMO's were made, and for me, the better. Now, the problem with GW's implementation of instances is the fact that EVERYTHING is instanced. That however is not the problem. The problem is in that if you are in an instance and you been on this mission for an hour and oh crap, gotta log out I just gained wife aggro, when you come back in you have to start completely over. That in itself has made the game have more of the run of the mill RPG instead of being an MMO. I want the ability to log back into the instance I was in when I had to leave so that I can finish the mission without having to redo the entire first hour I had just completed.
Along those lines, as it stands right now, if a person in your party drops, they cant get back into the same instance with you. You either have to go on without them or go back to town and get them and start the entire instance over again. Much to repetitive if you ask me.
Triggers
Again, this makes the game more like an RPG then an MMO. While triggers are very usefull for certain things, I absolutey detest stepping outside of a town at level 12 knowing that this level 3 creature is going to attack me as soon as I walk across that spot. That type of triggers doesn't belong in an online game made today. Speaking of level 3 creatures attacking me, this to is rather annoying and time consuming having to beat these things down every single time I step into an instance. It just doesnt belong to an MMO of today.
Travel.
Hot dang, you got one right. Traveling in a huge world takes up lots of time that could be spent doing something else. I love the ability to travel instantly to different places. I do however wish there was a faster travel method when your just out exploring. Not a big thing, just would be a nice extra.
Uber weapons and armor.
Eh, I could go either way on this. I personally am more into the Look rather then the stats. So in this case I would go with uber meaning holy crap did you see that guys sword. man that looks awesome.
Along that same note. Towns do not allow you to "show off" your recent find. Your weapons do not display and practically half your armor really doesnt show. For an MMO that is a HUGEEEEEEEEE nono. There is nothing better then to get compliments on how your character looks. Why else would you go through all the customizing and getting the right pieces to only allow your party inside of an instance to see it. Everyone needs to be able to see the cool looking armor and weapons when your in town. Also, are there many items in the game with particle effects? I haven't really seen any, just another thing that makes your character look "cool".
Anyhow, thats the start of my wish list.... I may post more later....
My wish list for future updates.
