Ever wanted secondary profession runes on your character?
Derek Ravenclaw
I was thinking today, wouldn't it be cool if we could put secondary profession runes on our characters? I'm not saying this should be added, I was just trying to think of practical reasons that this would be cool.
What I came up with:
Fast casting minion master with level 18 minions!
12 fast casting, 16 death magic, 3 soul reaping
How about an uber-paladin with 16 in healing prayers? +4 HP regen mending ftw!
So, any of you guys have any other ideas on what you'd do if you could wear secondary runes?

If by practical you mean "unbalanced liek woah", yes. :3
How about those monks with points in energy storage and divine favor? Crazy, man.

Well if the max is adding 3 stats so it doesnt get unblanced then..

Is 3 points of soul reaping worth losing 75 HP to carry that second superior? Or even 50 HP for a major+minor? I think not.
The system works just fine as it is. It's part of the strategy to have to choose your primary class, taking into consideration armor and rune choices.

Well, that was just for messing around and you can bring a +30/+30 hp staff, but the real part of that was the 16 death magic AKA level 18 bone fiends as opposed to level 14 bone fiends.
Derek Ravenclaw
But yeah, like I said, I'm not saying this should be added, I was just wondering what kinds of whacky builds you'd bring that just wont cut it without secondary attributes at 16?

Yes, it would be nice to use runes for non-class-specific skills of your secondary profession...So a secondary elementalist could not use the energy storage rune, but can use the other ele runes...

How about those non-existant monks who transcend all skill classes in order to get access to all primary attributes? Crazy, man.

/notsigned because I don't like it. This is my stamp of disapproval.

I can definitely see the appeal of the idea, but overall, I think it's probably better the way it is. Maybe if the game had been designed that way from the start, but as it is now, I think the runes-for-primary-only is important for balance.

i love to idea of hiding where you spend the atributes points , adding this will make it even more possible for a person to use the second profession as a first ...

Hmm... I would have just put this in the normal discussion under the alias, "What if you could have runes from other professions?" as this is not a suggestion at all, whatsoever, exclamation point, period, etcetera... |
... I did put it in general discussion but it got moved here. I wanted it in General Discussion as I have never wanted it added, I was just interested in what people would DO if they COULD do it. I think it'd be dumb if they added it.

It would make the line between a main profession and a secondary profession even more blurred than it is. Certainly, you've got things like Divine Favor and Energy Storage which still name a class, but it's simply more reasonable to have a monk be able to heal better than a necro.

That's why one profession is called a Primary
and another a seconday
Seriously you can't be both at the same time.
That's why you have an exclusive attribute.
That's why you can't wear other profession's armors
and that's why you can't equip secondary proffession runes.
If they did it would be *way!* unbalanced.
