Wow, finally found my first yellow/orange/gold (whatever color it was supposed to be) item. It was a Beastmaster Armor during the Borliss Pass quest.

I had a Minor Rune of Hammer Mastery in some dwarven armor I found, had many other armor parts aswell so I wanted to salvage them first, then use the salvage kit for the runed armor....doubleclicked the normal salvage kit...went exactly at the runed armor with my mouse, even saw the name of it and clicked..........got 1 Hide from it....i was like /doh after

I identified a blue/cyan item and once identified, it turned white, because it has no special property... (was a rather high level item). I also have encountered many (about 2 or 3 post-release, 2-4 more pre-release) purple-named armors which identify with no special stats (but name still remains purple).
Expert salvage kits have about 80% chance of salvaging a rune from a special stated armor I've found.

I had a zealous axe of fortitude, and got the fortitude rune out of it instead of the zealous.

Man some freaky mojo happened last night in the surmia mission, I got 2 purple salavage items one after another. Only problem no special stats, I did get an iron ingot I used for my armor thou.
