Can gold drops be better than greens?

Because of the nature of randomized stats, is it possible for gold items to be much more desirable and expensive than green items?

Perfect gold items will always be more desirable and expensive than greens. Some of the stats a green has, although max, aren't very desirable, such as +7 armor vs elements. And you can't mod greens. Golds on the other hand can have what you want, the look you want, and are moddable. Plus they have gold text.

They say Ragos Wand (fire) is godly. Beat my wand - req8, max dmg, 19% FIRE skill recharge / 18% FIRE skill casting speed.. Pikced up for the same price as Ragos ..

The thing is, if you get a gold item, it can always be modified. Similarly, it can go to 8 or below requirement. Green/Blue always has the limitation of 9 req+

plus... perfect gold weapons are just... rare... most players take pride in wielding rare weapons
