Globalisation of Trade
4thVariety
One of the most annoying features of Guildwars is trade. There is no place to trade, trade is scattered across the continent. There is no District for trade, everybody is just posting it at random. Even though good traders tend to visit district 1 for trade, it is alway HOMEDISTRICT 1 that is used. A large variety of forums offering trade sections are no relief either.
I'm proposing that trade gets unified, globalized if you will. Frog said something about an auction house, but that is not really good either, since it will most likely be on 3 different servers plus 10 districts each, so the chances of finding the right buyer are zero again.
Instead people should use International District-1 for trading or even better NC should create the "International Trading District of Ascalon". This could be an incentive for better trade in the game and a chance to bring the three GW continents (US, Eu, Korea) closer together. At the moment nobody uses Int. Districts, except for some Chinese players, which is rather sad.
In my opinion it is very sad that a GW players only see one third of all the players. As a person who changed his account from EU to US and back, I can only say that much is lost by dividing up the community like this.
Though this isolation is mostly a result of being too lazy to change to int. district, measures like an international trading district could help to advance the growing together of the GLOBAL GW community.
We might get Int. Tarding District of Ascalon 1-10 but at least the whole world would start playing together. A scattered community could begin to grow together

I disagree. Trading D1 will be full of bot farmers opening up trade windows, placing items then pming you " 50k ok? "

Although I can agree that having a centralized location for buying/selling would make things easier, I'd much prefer an aution house. Back when I used to play FFXI and even in WoW, auction houses were a godsend for selling items quickly and easily. I just put it up for sale and do something else like farming/questing or just log out. When I get back I either have money or the item back for relisting. Of course, even with an auction hosue there was always still people shouting WTS/WTB over trade channels but not to the degree in GW.
Personally I hate having to stand around shouting for stuff I need to sell. I'd rather be out questing than sitting in town hoping that one buyer who wants my stuff just happens to be in the same district as I am at that moment.

an auction house will do nicely, but a fully international selling district just can't be. as said before, it'll just be flooded with bots...there will also be a language barrier, and personally i cant stand how the koreans spam/type. it might work with europe, but i doubt anet would make europe and america co-exist like that while leaving korea hanging.

From my understanding the Auction house will be global like the traders are. Mis-information ftl.

ohhh i wish there was a language barrier. than maybe one of these psycho obssesed koreans would stop following me around saying "10k ok?"

Auction house is definately the way to go. Not only will it make trading easier, but it will significantly drive down prices. Right now, only a small percentage of the population takes the time to sell items and even then, it's usually only the absolute high end stuff that is most likely to sell.
With an auction house, instead of price competition amongst a small group of players, there will be competition amongst all players and all the price information will be at the buyer's fingertips as opposed to always wondering if you are getting ripped off because some guy in the next district could be selling the same item for 5k less.
Definately a welcome change. On the other hand, I will feel a little sorry for the people who made their money solely by trading. Trading may not be farming or questing, but it certainly requires skill and patience.

Be patient, the auction house is coming. Enjoy the new cap and helm toggle feature for a while.

Yeah, I'm sure the auction house will fix all this. The trading district idea won't really work imo, because what if dist 1 is full and you are searching all over the other districts for what you want to buy when the guy that has it, or that has it for a better deal, is in the district you can get to?
The auction house will be best if anyone can access what is for sale from any district. That's the only way to fix the trade spam.
