My Elementalist has Immolate and Phoenix, but no inferno. Strange no? Did I miss something or what? I can't find inferno from any of the skill trainers at all up to The Gates of Kryta. If the spell is found after that then ok, but if you're supposed to get it earlier, I'm at a loss.

Immolate and Pheonix you can buy at Grendich Courthouse if you have got them from a quest by then.
Inferno you get later as you suspected. There is a guy in the swamp in Northern Kryta that gives a quest to get it... north of Lion's Arch.

Hmm, I've already done missions up to Lion's Arch but I am missing Immolate and Phenoix, as well as many other skills I would like to have. So you don't just get them from the cities involved in the missions? I should travel around more?

Gendrich courthouse is way the hell isolated north of the Nolani academy. take the road across the bridge then head north. It's full of Charr and other nasty things.

you can only capture from bosses. The court house is northeast of Nolani academy. and Inferno ... I'll have to get back to you on. My brother has this.

I have Inferno. I think I got it from the guy standing around in the middle of the swamp along the eastern side of North Kryta Province. You have to defend him from some creatures that pop up and attack him while he's trying to translate some ancient text. He's really easy to get to from Lion's Arch, just head east as far as you can go, then north through the swamp, you can't miss him.

To get to grendich courthouse, just do the althea's ashes quest. It will lead you there, and there you will be able to buy pheonix and immolate.
