Halloween Items: worth saving?
FrogDevourer
Just wondering if there is an official word from ANet/Gaile/theFrog on the Halloween Items. Will they disappear in a few days or can we store them for future occasions?
Raiin Maker
yea i was wondering that too. my mate gave me some, but if they stay, i might keep them and sell for uber profit later :P
no idea.. guess we'll have to wait... they do look very cool when used though :P

can some one tell me what they do?
ownage of teh elite
What's the point though?
I mean, you can store them, but each of them only have a maximum use of 1.
It's not really long-term items.
I don't think A-Net is going to keep the items.
That's just my opinion.
But if they sold some decently priced, wicked looking, nice, Halloween Costumes, at every armour seller, that would be nice!
*Hint Hint*

Penguins Will Fly
Will we need these items when the event happens? Or are they just for show.

i think it'll probably disappear, because the whole thing will be repatched?

Can someone fill me on what these halloween items are and where they can be obtained?

Penguins Will Fly
The only places I've seen them in so far are Drok's, Tombs and Lion's Arch.

Ascalon city horseman collects charr carvings (3x), Droknars forge collects stoned summit badges (x2), LA horseman collects decayed orr emblems (x3) and denravi collector wants maguuma manes (x2?).
There is no horseman in the desert because elona is a farmers paradise.
EDIT - thanks Lyra

A-net has said nothing about hatting people making profit off of others wants, not have they said that actual rare items shouldn't exist. Also, they removed the sword that give +5 en, but didn't take it away from other people. I assume these items will stay.

Thanks a lot, Those info helped me x5 .

I don't think the price of these items will increase after they've been removed from the game because they're 1 use each. If they were permanent then perhaps . . .

Never underestimate people with a lot of Gold who missed out on event items.
Depending on what Anet does, I expect there will be people who are stocking up on Halloween items, I also expect people will be forking over stupid amounts of Gold for them.
At least, this prediction comes from memories of event fireworks (consumable items) and the like in Final Fantasy XI would sell for pretty outrageous prices in the Auction House. This being a game where money means something since you are constantly replacing your gear for stats and not ultimately for looks like Guild Wars. :P

Man, I hope they don't turn into a thing which people will sell later on for cash, it happened in Runescape and it sucked... People easily got these items, then sold them later on for big cash, which they shouldn't have by any means at their level.

I'm kind of hoping that they will be used to upgrade your character or something fun like that. In case they are indeed just useless (and limited), I have 80 of each to sell in a few months
Eet GnomeSmasher
Meh. It really doesnt matter whether or not these items turn into some rare collector's item for profit since it's not like there aren't already items in the game that are rare and fetch ridiculous amounts of cash - like the sickle.
And it would be nice for some people to have a souvenir of these events, no point in making them go poof really.

Ghost-in-a-box = the new Christmas Cracker. Stock up now

Supposing that prices will rise slowly, like after 6 months its 2.5K (yeah ive seen ppl are selling them now already for 750) then after 8 it will be 4K, but I hope that Anet will put do this event anually, meaning that if you wait another few months, they are worthless again .
(well... worthless, still like 40 gold or something if u are too lazy to farm some char carvings)

Novelty items like these with no actual effect rarely sell for much in games I've played (particularly single-use effects, unlike items you can equip for a permanent visible effect to show off with). Sometimes, games put in holiday items that you can equip with unique effects, and THOSE sell for insane amounts if it's a good one that can be used by most people (one such game had an item with boosted stats, in addition to giving additional health, for its level with no reqs, so it sold for half the price of the rarest drop in the game after the holiday was over)
I'm guessing these sell for 1.5x-3x the price of Dwarven Ale, fluctuating per individual person selling/buying it, and that the primary use of them will be for party favours and gifts.

i think that they vanish after the holidays >.<

Final Fantasy, there were a lot of holiday themed equipment you could collect.
World of Warcraft, they gave you patterns so you could make holiday items (snowball machine!)

hmm ok il keep my 40 halloween items then :3

What they should do is make it so that a certain amount of candy must be sold to bring out a monster who drops an awesome item.
Like in Diablo II they made everyone sell their duped SOJ's to make "Uber Diablo" spawn with an Anni.

Two things:
I) I highly doubt, that ANet will make these items vanish after Halloween - for exactly the reasons mentioned so far (would make players mad for no reason at all)
II) After Halloween , there will only be a limited amount of these items and since their numbers are gonna steadily drop due to people using them their price will go up. It's just basic economy - if there is only a limited supply of something avaible (never mind if it's actually usefull) it will become a tradeable good. And the less there is, the higher the prices will climb...

I remember back in WoW, there was a Christmas event, and there were goblin merchants selling snowballs... you could throw 'em at people in towns, it was great fun. Well, after Christmas, the snowballs disappeared from the merchants, but people stll had some left and decided to save them. Then, during the summer months, you could sell them at a profit. Granted, people weren't willing to pay too much, but it was still fun.
twicky_kid
since the ghost in the box triggers soul reaping don't dought that it will worth huge amounts after event is over.
Tactical-Dillusions
Ghost in the box act as decoys for the enemy. I just tested it outside Ascalon and the devourers attacked the ghost.
I think runners might be able to use them to get rid of tailing enemies.

In my short and disturbing experience with "RuneScape", I can tell you that giving us anything that will last and be cool long term, that is only available for short amounts of time (a la "party hats"), is a terrible decision that will break the economy.

Wow you got that picture up quick. That guy was in there like just 10 minutes ago :P
Yes, he says it is auto customized. He is from Korea, and that's why he has the helm already. He says the Mad King gives many other items, but won't dilvulge because he doesn't want to spoil it.

Anyone know how long the Mad king will be there? If I am not on when he comes I dont want to miss getting any items or anything.

If you use a Ghost-in-the-box in a town with Blue Henchies, the Ghost is blue too! Interesting.
