Just a New Sig I Made

I made this just becuase I wanted to figure out how Imageready and Photoshop work together. After weeks of fiddling, becuase I'm too stubborn to use a tutorial, I finally got it to work as I wanted.

I'm still working on putting a border around the movie, and I know the sig doesn't fit the height reqs on the forums, but I don't plan to use it here anyway.

Anyone have any thoughts, or comments?

That's pretty cool looking. How do you put a movie within the picture?

Good, because it's <10% over the height requirement, but it's >1977% of the size requirement! I estimate it's about a five minute download for dial-up users. As a piece of animation and art, it's pretty good. As a sig, it's a pretty bad one. Anyone can make a great looking sig given no limits, real talent lies in getting a lot out of a little.

That is pretty cool, but I am glad I'm on a T1 and not dial-up right about now.

Haha, yeah, I probably should put a warning in the title.

I looks pretty cool, but all it reall is , is a backround with a animation clip playing. Sure every body goes "ooh aah" but it isnt really anything too special

I think it's awesome that you found out how to do that, but I disagree with almost everybody else here.

The background and text in the image seem very pixelated and grainy, while the animation doesn't, that causes sort of a controversy between them, because it goes from pixelated to non-pixelated in... 1 pixel.

I suggest that you either make the image fade into the background, or have it in a new shape, because the square image looks a little off with the rest of it.

Oh, and I'm on 56k and it went pretty fast for me o_O

I've created a lot of sigs over the years for folks and I'll say this about that one. And it pretty much goes for any other one too.

You took the time to learn a new way of doing something. Improving on what most would call the norm when they look at a static signature. From what you learned you can imporove on only to make your next attempt better. And the next better than that etc.

I say kudo's to you, and well done.

It's nice but the signature gets way to big that way.
You can also do this with Adobe Premiere Pro.

I made some with gifs in them, it's not that hard really.
the hard part is getting them to fit with the rest of the sig, since it has different colours in a sequence and it's hard..

neways here's 2.. the Squall Leonhart one was my first with a gif in it thus it's about 800 kb which sucks but oh well.

this one is from a bit later with Dante from DMC 230KB pretty nice for a animated gif I'd say

about the sizes btw, most people nowadays, about 65-70% of the internet users has cable or dsl. and I doubt there are many people on this forum who have dial up because they also play Guildwars although it's dial up friendly.

[Edit] when I made this I always used Internet Explorer it's been a while since I made a signature like that I nowadays always use Mozilla Firefox in this browser the animations turn out to have a higher fps rate.

As for me, I want significantly less '>100kb' images.

I'm on broadband, but I hate when people abuse my connection 'Just cuz'.

Jahara: I have no problem with sharing, but it shouldn't be forced on me. It should be something consensual. Like 'Hey, I have this gallery of neat art, want to view it?' Instead of just cramming graphics down my throat 'Because'.

Thankfully, I do have the option of turning the eyesores off (Signatures off) in my profile options.

Gerbill: My point is that I shouldn't have to. People should make reasonably sized signatures, and keep their collosal images on a portfolio or gallery type page.

well signatures are turned off and otherwise you have the ability to turn them off..
and seeing how this threads title is "Just a New Sig I Made [56k Beware!]"

you didn't have to enter this thread.. but mk

Gerbill: While your observation of the title 56k beware is noted, it also was not included in the original thread title. And since that is the case, it has not been modified in the thread list. So the warning is moot, much like your argument.

Also, signatures come in many varieties, many of which are text only. I appreciate a good dose of ascii art or a clever quote or a small image, and might have had it in my head that that was what I was going to see here.

It doesn't matter if 'everyone has cable' to you. I always design keeping dial-up and 800x600 screen users in mind. You cant disguise poor web design by flashy animation and shiny brushes. O_o Sometimes simplicity does SO much more in a signature, rather that spoonfeeding to please the hard-to-satisfy graphic *****s.
