Secondary? Why?
Judas Hawksriff
Quick question,
Are there any bonuses for not choosing a secondary class?
In the past most RPG games reward the player by being loyal to one profession, i.e, not having to split exp, level up quicker, etc
I was just wondering if anything along the same lines applied to GW? obviously you don't have to split your skill points, but is that it????

There is no advantage to single classing, only the disadvantage of being significantly less flexible. If you don't want to use a second profession, you don't have to allocate any points to it, but it doesn't hurt to have it - if for nothing else, then take Monk for a real Resurrect spell, none of this Res Signet business.

Blimey fast response, cheers for that, I'm a warrior atm toying with which secondary profession, if any, to go with. I was just wondering if it came down to a Warrior Vs Warrior/Ranger fight - purely on warrior skills, wether the single class would be better off, even if the other player didn't spend any skill points on the ranger?

All classes are balanced. It doesn't matter what you choose.
Get a secondary. Just GET one. Think of what your role in the group will be and build a character around that. I am a healing monk/support unit. So, I got Monk/Mesmser. I can heal my group plus cast anti-buff, energy drain type spells.
There is no down side to taking a secondary. You only get advantages. Skills and versatility is the name of the game.

Just for your consideration: The game will not let you enter the Academy without a 2nd profession.
I have found that there is usually at least one skill in another profession that I want. You will see a lot of W/Mo just for the 1 or 2 healing spells that are available from the monk list.

Exactly, confessor24, spot on, as well as being a pure single class, it does mean the hard-core players can opt of another level of difficulty, your right, there should be at least the option so the player can choose whether they want another class or not, why don't we just make all the players hermaphrodites while we're at it, they're already all human!
Auntie I
Just because you have to have another class doesn't mean you have to use any of their skills or put any of your attribute points into the subclass attributes. You can play a "pure" class.
Romac
silly silly silly
if you want to be a 'pure' warrior just take any second profession, then load your skillbar with just warrior skills.
why do people have to invent issues and problems???

Because there are people out there who are not "happy" unless they are upset. Make sense ?
Auntie I
As much as any other expanation I guess.

Then don't use those spells. You are not obligated to you the secondary spell, nor do you have to give attribute point to your secondary. You hero can still be a All warrior is you want. Just dont' give and attribute point or use any secondary powers.
YOU DONT LOSE ANYTHING BY TAKING A SECONDARY

It wasn't forced in the betas. I think they started to force it because a lot of people were complaining they'd get to post-searing with one job and be stuck that way. I'd be happy with the requirement of a second profession were dropped -- let the whiners whine if they go searing and can't go back to get a second because they ignore the bright red text that tells them it's a one-way trip. Punishment.

Either way someone isn't gonna be happy. Screw it, leave it. They're gonn piss off somone anyway
Auntie I
Either way someone is whining!
Loviatar
go back to all the posts about how the warning it was a one way trip and they had to make xxxx sure people got their 2nd profession before they went through.
much more strident than the posters who want to be *pure*

Not whining, questioning, I don't mind picking a 2nd profession, I started this thread wanting to know if there we're any benefits to not picking a 2nd, but have since found out you HAVE to have a 2nd one, I just under the impression to start with that there was some choice in the matter

you can also do /rock or /scissors so you can actually have a proper game with someone... as long as they start their emote before you have shown what you are doing...
