He comes down from district to district within the hour, not at random.

It would be alot better if he just came and blasted everyone to peices.

He's went and gone earlier (Europe), he said he'll return later.

You have to do what he says, or he kills you, but he resurrect's you straight away again. There's like 40 Districts now for Lion's Arch for each Language (English/German/Spanish/Italian), he stays for around 30 minutes, he does repeat what he does, but if you wait till the end, he gives you a customized to YOU Pumpkin Head :P

People are already in places going "SELLING NEW ELITE PUMPKIN HEAD 100K", and when I say there customized to you, they flame me and whisper saying "OMFG U FKTARD WNKOR YD U TELL EM U FAHGOT OFMGOFMGOM"

The mad king was just in international dis 4...showed up at about 12:05 pst...and stayed for about 40 minutes.
He seems to go through the same "script" several times...tell a joke...make you dance..beg...he really loves the rock paper scissors game...do what he says and he gives you the squash serum,ghost in a box,absinthe and witches brew. I have a mighty stack. Don't do it and he kills you. At the end of it...you'll know because he says "I have to leave now"....the pumpkin head helm will be placed in your inventory...

Well, I can now personally confirm that you do get the helm even if you are AFK. I was AFK all afternoon, and when I came back I had the helm in my inventory.

I don't think you guys are right when you said he roams from district to district. I think they just put a Mad King bot in every LA district at the designated time.

I just noticed that in addition to getting the helm while being AFK, I also got from the Mad King bot:

4 Absinthe
2 Squash Serum
3 Ghost-in-the-Box
1 Witch's Brew

I got two now.

They are both identical if you have more than one. No difference between them at all.

You might be able to sell your multiple ones to some freak who wants it (even though he can't wear it) but other than that there's no point in having more than one on the same character.

First time I was AFK, second time I was not. But I almost did just as good getting prizes while I was AFK because when I was not AFK, lag was causing me to not be able to do the emotes on time. Very annoying that I had the emotes all ready to go but I got killed and missed prizes due to lag.

Then next time Mad King comes, Prison Break is gonna be on so I'm just gonna go AFK again to collect more prizes as I watch that. Might as well, it's not like there is any downside to just AFKing there.

If that was it I'll be a little annoyed, as living in Sydney the mad king's antics occurred between 7am and 7pm on 1st November - all through my working day! I know I could have changed servers but I dont really want to use up all my switches on special events. Not to take anything at all from the devs on this one, I think the whole halloween special was a fantastic achievement and I was pretty amazed at the lengths they went to on aesthetics, especially as GW is a subscription free game.

However, maybe next time they can go for more than 12 hours so us antipodeans can have a crack too.

If this was addressed elsewhere I apologize. However, my search turned up a misinforming remark. Someone made a comment to the effect of "too bad you can't use the Mad guards in party." You can. I took them out for a bit of fun. Turns out they are minion masters. Nice screeny for kicks.

Mad King rules, I have numerous halloween treats, and 4 pumpkin crowns, that is 1 on 1 char and 3 on the other char... hmm... maybe that was caused by GW running overnight? :P
