Smiter beasmaster "build"
stats:
12+2 smiterizing
3+1 divine favor
12 Beast mastery
skills:
1: Ferocious Strike
2: Call of Haste
3:Comfort Animal or Judges Insight (i prefer) or preadatory pounce
4: Symbol of Wrath
5: Balthazars Aura
6: Strength of Honor
7: Charm Animal
8: Rezsig
cast SoH at start of the match. Wait for someone to get close, preferably casters, but rangers and warriors are just as easy.
plan:
1. Attack
2. Call of Haste
3. Ferocious strike quickly thereafter
4. When hes close, Judges insight if you have it
5. Balthazars Aura next
6. Ferocious strike as you see fit, and Symbol of Wrath if you go stand near somebody.
since the pet is running 25% faster and attacking 25% faster.. its keeping up with any runner, and pounding them hard constantly. the armor penetration and the Balths Aura are not helping their situation either.
only once has the pet been killed... but only after taking out 3 of them...
when you get migrained or backfired, you can still ferocious strike and call of haste and such.
Doctor J was mauling ass earlier today. Nobody sees it coming, and them bam, theyre getting hit for 30-100 by a wolf.... plus the aura..
i'm happy i thought this thing up all by my lonesome. Havent seen any variations on it either.

Only been playing GW for a couple days, so this might not be worth much, but could you add Zealot's fire?
Cast that on your pet, and then, from the way Zealot's fire reads, you'd get a nice little area effect everytime you used a skill on your furry friend.

This is similar to the build i use for fun. With my beastmaster/smite i have
10 smite
12 expertise
14 beastmaster (runes i forget)
I agree that ppl dont c it coming. It was funny as a warrior thought in comp arena that he would kill my pet real quick then get to me. Ended up he got killed by my little "Priest". The build i use is similar too yours but (only in my opinion =) ) a bit more evolved. But your build is prolly quite effective at what it does. looks pretty good.

wrath will be doing 30dmg a second
balthz will be doing 30ish a second.. i think
The wolf will be doing x+9 holy damage with 20% Armor Pen
and lets not forget furocious...(sp?) strike does an extra 25 or so damage.
all while attacking 25% faster and running 25% faster...
chances are.. the warrior AND the next person you target will be dead before the warrior gets to you. The thing is, I can always equip that base damage reduction skill so the puppy lasts longer. He does more damage than any warrior i've ever seen or heard of though. So he tends to win in a fight.
funny to see 3 warriors attacking your dog though.

Its possible U thought it up on your own, but other people have gotten to it before you, including me and a person i heard about second hand, i cant validate these claims because the pet/smite build i posted last week has been taken out already, so i will just assume you thought of it on your own.
I dont know if you're using this build in CA, TA, Tombs or GvG, but regardless, I always bring a defensive, or healing spell.
A great variation of this build that I use is such:
Res sig
Charm Animal
Comfort Animal (when u play smart ppl they begin to kill ur pet)
Balthazar's Aura
Barbed Trap
Troll Unguent
Call of Haste
Ferocious Strike
Beast Mastery:11
Smiting:10
Expertise: 7
Wilderness Survival: 9
(plus ranger runes)
And I noticed you play monk primary...IMO, thats a very bad idea, everyone and their dog (excuse the pun ) will be on your butt, and SoW doesnt discourage other rangers or spellcasters.
BTW it doesnt work with long-term runners because if YOU cant keep up your attacks on the target then your pet comes back to you, but it for that last killing stroke CoH is great.

I made a R/Mo smite pet bomb using Bal's Aura as my only monk skill.
The sheer number of pet skills is more than enough to utilize it as a remote control warrior. I think if you wanted to do something goofy, you could try using a combination of Zealot's Fire + Draw Conditions on the pet.
I'm ranger primary though with 16 BM and 8 smiting. If my pet critical hits a Ferocious Strike on your behind, that's 100+ dmg on a crit.
I wish there was a deep wound skill for a pet, that would r0x0rs the c0x0rs...
But I treat my pet as a remote controlled warrior. Everyone ignores him, he has a free frenzy/sprint combo for one skill instead of two, and he probably tanks/does more damage than a normal warrior would at times...
RC Warrior for the win!

It tends to help being Monk because a stupid warrior will charge at you.. and be dead before he gets to me.
I like to crank smiting for strength of honor and judges insight. I wouldnt be able to keep up a SoH with a ranger.
Im thinking of checking out some judges armor, less energy but should still keep me alive longer.
i might invest in a super smiting or major sooner than later. Anyone can do a pet attack ranger. THe monk with a wolf is why its so good, nobody expects a monk.

jesh
Ferocious strike is a lot more effective with expertise than DF, if you ask me. That's the main reason to be a ranger.. and for the person who said to use Zealot's, it activates, but not on your pet. It's around you. Which makes it pretty useless unless you're spamming draw conditions, like Yukito said.
