Inventory Lag

Whenever I go into my inventory [I], I get a very large lag block, and usually some distorted pics for atleast a solid 7 seconds. If I was moving, I'm warped forward, and it continues until I close the inventory. I have to use F9 to access my bags at all (doesn't do it when I just access my bags). I've had this happen with two different video cards now, not sure what it could be.

Anybody have any idea?

same happened on my geforce 5500 oc 512mb card...

It happened on a recent update shortly after SF update, and had not been fixed yet. So I reinstalled everything again, and reloaded CDs, then re-updated just in case. no go. so it is definitely a problem on one of the video drivers... I reported it but when nothing happened I thought it was maybe just me. I have tried just about every setting to get that to stop happening and its all the same. high detail to lowest detail at all refresh rates.

In contrast I am currently playing GW on my laptop instead of my server. it is also a geforce chipset with less memory, but there is nothing wrong on this one. so I think it is a random error on one of the earlier geforce drivers. I'm sure Arenanet is looking into it...

Error is not to much of a problem, except in the fact that in a battle sometimes you go tot swap out armors after a DP for gain more HP. Or to make use of a better rune if you are at +10% and willing to work with less health... that's the only time its inconvenient. the only other time it happens is when the little sword through shield animation on bonus and mission completed happens. it lags out and sometimes never shows it at all.

in any case. your not alone... I'm sure they will have a fix for it soon... as this did not happen at release on the machine it is currently happening to.

I also have a Geforce FX 5200 Card and am experiencing the inventory and mission completed icon freeze. It also happens at the start of Guild and Tomb matches, when the team flags shows.

It can be very annoying when you start a trade (which automatically opens inventory). I always use the F9 inventory screen now unless i need to apply runes or something. Like Ingram said it's not too much of a problem, but I hope Anet will fix it soon.

I also experience this on a Geforce FX 5200 with 2 gigs of ram

It happens a few times when I open one bag and then open another using the quick keys. It will lock up for a few seconds and when it comes back some images look like colorful blocks.

I've experienced the same as Gaia. But it doesn't always happen with me. Except in the Tombs. Screen always freezes there for about 10 seconds.

My inventory bags and belt sometimes lag for several seconds. Then sometimes they don't. I don't know what causes it. If I switch back to my backpack the lag is immediately gone.

Yeah, I too have the exact some problem! Quest completion icons lockup, and so do my bags and my belt pouch. Backpack is fine.

Sometimes I can actually go into one of my bags and nothing'll happen.. until I try to move something, then it'll lock up for several seconds. Also, if I try to do too much during those several seconds that it's locked up, my computer sometimes gets the current game image stuck on the screen. IE: I can close Guild Wars and be on the desktop, but all I see is Guild Wars at the point it froze, can't see anything I click or nothing.

So I take it this is just some glitch that they have to fix?

Oh, I have a GeForce MX4000 128MB.

For any of you that have 1 of the following models:

* GeForce FX 5200
* GeForce FX 5200 Ultra
* GeForce FX 5500
* GeForce FX 5700
* GeForce FX 5700 Ultra
* GeForce FX 5700LE
* GeForce FX 5900
* GeForce FX 5900 Ultra
* GeForce FX 5900 XT
* GeForce FX 5950 Ultra
* GeForce PCX 5300
* GeForce PCX 5750
* GeForce PCX 5900

Try, right-click your Desktop, go to 'Properties', then to 'Settings', then the 'Advanced' tab, click the GeForce 'Version' tab. Select performance and quality settings in the left window. In the Global Driver Settings window select Image Settings. Move the slider to the right for "High Quality".

^ From GuildWars.com, if that doesn't work.

Try reading around the Forums for other people with your card and there problems or try the search button with your graphics card as the search.

There are several threads on these boards about the inventory crash. Almost all have Nvidia cards. None of the other threads list this fix... folks just yap and say buy 2 gigs of ram (which is ridiculous), increase pagefiling (unrelated), update drivers (duh), etc. But this appears to work! Thank you... I have been unable to find this info anywhere else.

The difference: When you first hit the 'I' key, the graphics in your inventory (items and 'paper doll') take a while to load if you're in a high population area (or if a lot of motion is going on). I'll gladly take the trade off.

I've run around opening/clicking on my inventory in high density places, trying to crash. So far, everything's fine. Plus there used to be a slight flicker when I switched bags in my inventory, and sometimes even on loading screens. I've only seen one flicker since changing (on a loading screen).

Thanks again. This out to be stickied or something.

Hi,
I have the same problem and also sent it to playNC Support.
Sys:
Pentium 4 2.6ghz HT
1024 gb RAM
GeForce 5200fx (250mhz core, 128mb)

My problems started as soon as I updated my nvidea drivers from 66.80 --> 77.60.
Even now, when I downloaded the lastest the latest drivers (81.98) the problem remains unsolved.
When opening the Inventory, Hero screen, FLAGS showing at Pvp, the computer freezes (including all 'background' processes.. like music.. that keeps repeating itself)
I managed to make a few screenshots right before and right after the freeze (might come in handy..?):

Tryed a lot of things to solve it (including what Josh said) but nothing worked so far.

About two months ago I posted about what a great fix this was. To this date, I have had no additional problems with the inventory lag/crash. But, in the past week, I have had mission completed icon freezes, one right after the other. When I reboot (all I can do; can't cntl-alt-del or anything), I will have received credit for the mission but will not have advanced to the next city. Is anything like this happening to other folks (ie, fixed for a while but now similarly broken)?

Zero, did you try rolling back your Drivers to 66.80 with the Device Manager? Maybe not compatible with the card your using, as it is quite old.

If you can't find that Driver again, try this;

66.93 (1 above your old 66.80)
http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_66.93.html

OR

61.77 (1 below your 66.80)
http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_61.77.html

66.80 isn't listed in nVidia's Driver Archive.

EDIT: Sorry, I think I'm actually a bit late on that reply, lol.

Nvidia FX5xxx cards are not worth the money you shell out to buy them. They have to be the worst series of cards EVER produced.
