Well I've got my Guild Wars pre-ordered and I can't wait for the release but I have one relatively simple but HUGELY important question; please help me out if you know the answer.
I'm going off to college next fall so I'll be getting a new computer for that, but I wanted to make sure that I would be able to transfer Guild Wars from my current computer to my new one without having to buy a whole new copy (with the whole anti-piracy crackdown). Will I be able to transfer it onto another computer?

Yes, because from what I've seen, it's based upon the account # and being able to log in. Though, that may just be for the beta. Could someone please either confirm or deny assumtion?

My understanding of it is this. Theoretically you can install a single copy of Guild Wars on every computer in the world, but you will only have one account for that copy. Only one person may play on an account at a time. Meaning you get 4 characters, 1 account, that you can play from any computer that has guildwars installed.

Yes the key is linked to your email account you use at registration, so use one you plan on keeping, not one like at the university lets say. cause after graduation. Bang you are not on that account anymore... see... Now I'm sure they will have account services to fix such messups, but just play it safe and use a more perminate email when you setup and put in yor Key.
FYI. I just recently installed the client on my laptop so I could take it with me to Wor... Ahemm.. other places... lol
And it didnt even ask me for my key... it knew when I logged in with my account name and password what it was and activated the client right then...
You will NOT be able to have 2 computers logged in at the same time on the same account though. I tried it and I got an e-mail from them asking me not to do that or my account will be LOCKED OUT... I'm sure they will have ways to prevent this better in next beta and the final release.

Sounds good, thanks for your help. I just wanted to make sure that the key was linked to a permanent email account instead of a one-time download on a single computer. Thanks again for the clarification.

After you asked me this last night Jack and I told you what I thought, you still have to come here and ask people? Geez, thanks for the vote of confidence...

P.S. I personally know William the Silent (all to well at that...), so it's alright for me to call him a schmuck, just as it was alright for him to call me an "instant messaging RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO."

Its just like going to the doctor, Ross: Always ask for a second opinion! (especially in such a dire situation). Thanks again everyone for your CONSTRUCTIVE comments
