I just got my first character (E/Me-Lvl7) out of the tutorial area and into Old Ascalon (and prompty stayed up until 3AM playing the kick-a$$ arena battles when I have to get up at 6am ) and I have come across a Skill Trainer.

He is offering to train me in a Me skill. The problem is that it will costs a Skill Point. I looked on my character sheet and see that I have 7 Skill Points.

Now, I do not necessarily want this skill for this character, but I DO want to unlock all the skills I can for my account so I can use them with a PVP character. My concern is that if I use my skill points to buy skills from trainers whether or not I really want the skill for the current character, will I eventually run out of skill points when I come across something I really want?

Does this make any sense to anyone? Are Skill Points scarce? Are there enough that I can afford to buy every skill I come across or do I need to pick&choose carefully?

Thanks

im not too sure about most of what your asking but I can tell you that you should buy the ones that you want when you see them and if your "ify", then wait until you beat the game and come back.

i too am curious about this

it is my understanding that trainers only sell you skills that you could have obtained by doing quests in a previous zone

if you get them as quest rewards they don't cost skill points, and they are free

besides that, i'm not sure if we will run out of skill points at some time, and not be able to earn any more

You will not run out of skill points but i would suggest waiting to see if you can get it through a quest or if you just missed it in preascilon you should just create a character and go get it. The reason for this is every time you buy a skill the price of the next skill goes up so get as many through quests as you can but buy the ones you need of course no sense in gimping yourself.

You will eventual get to where you can buy signets of capture these cost half as much as normal skills would for that skill point and are the only way to obtain elites. These you have to use on a boss when he is casting the skill you want then you get the skill! Capture is more money efficent i guess but really its a pain so i only use it for elites or for skills i couldnt buy or quest for.

hope that helped these forums are getting inundated not many answers and alot of questions

Thanks Draken that helps out.

If I were to make a Mesmer real quick and go get the skill, then can I switch back to my first character and access that skill? Or is it only "unlocked" for PVP characters I make?
