Yes, just be patient. But I know what you mean. I wasn't a fan of post-searing Ascalon. So depressing.

Keep going. There are Mountains, jungles and other terrain the further you progress.

Just in the case, that you're going to ask how to progress.. do missions. The first mission is the Northern Wall. You can get there by heading north of Ascalon, post-searing.

Once you get to Kryta (the kingdom over the Shiverpeaks from Ascalon), things will be greener than they were even in pre-Searing Ascalon. And after that, there's the Maguuma Jungle. Lush would be an understatement...

Also, FAR SOUTH, right at the very bottom of the map is a small patch of green in post sear. I found it last night, decided to to take my L13 Ran/nec and explore some of the areas on the map I hadn't been to. Ended up walking around half the map, filling in the outer edges

Just an interesting observation/association:

Kingdom of Ascalon: Autumn (notice all the trees with their leaves turning colors -- this is a kingdom past its prime, its days are getting darker, its nights longer).
Shiverpeaks: Winter (cold, snowy, and it's across them that we make our transition from the dying old kingdom to the promise of a new life, just as during winter we transition from the old year to the new one)
Kryta: Spring (green, growing, a new land where the Ascalons in their settlement can make a new beginning)
Maguuma: Summer (heat and life grown to fill its rainforest's eternal tropical summer)
Crystal Desert: We come full circle, to a scorched land where all the plans and plots come to fruition, what was previously sowed is now reaped, and we harvert the rewards of it all.

The Wheel of the Year, Guild Wars style.

eeee.... I'm about to do Fire Temple. I have a pyromancer though so fire damage will be at a minimum (complete pyro set)
