Where can I find Scales?

I know this had been posted before because I actually used the search button. I need to know how to acquire scales... The only thing was those threads appeared to have been made before the release of GW, and I don't have any scales left from the beginning of the game to salvage. So if anyone knows a way to get scales in the release.. please tell me. I just got to Yak's Bend, in case it matters where I'm at.

Oh man, I had the same problem. In the beginning of the game, you fight "Skales" and they drop "Skale Fins" those salvage into scales, now, you dont really know about salvaging at low levels, so what I did.. Is I made a new character and killed skales for about an hour, got about 40 skale fins. Put them in my storage.. hopped on big character.. whammy.. 40 Scales.

Scale fins. Leather claws. Flame wielder salvagables. It's one of the least common 'common' crafting materials.

Hm, I also heard one of the ranger armors that doesn't use scales salvages into scales.

Leathery Claws are dropped by level 10 hydras, which aren't exactly easy to get by yourself.
The easiest way to get ahold of Scales are the way that I informed him.
And btw, scales arent aquired by salvaging other ranger armors, I tryed that

I didn't know that the storage vault was the same for each character, I thought they had separate ones.... I really need to get my second character out of pre... lol

Check out the Armor section on the main page. It's probably still based on the Betas but it'll give you someplace to start.

that is a list of locations and crafting requirements for each set of armor for each profession. remember, most of that data was gathered during the betas and may be outdated. it is a good place to start though..

Not meaning to go off-topic, but what is this storage area you guys were mentioning?

We made it from scales to armor why not storage! When you get to Post Searing Ascalon visit the Xunicati (Spelling??) Agent and buy a storage area for you account. 50g. One character can put stuff there for your other characters. For example I found a really good cane with my ranger, I put it in storage and when I logged on with my Mesmer picked up the cane. The agents have been in every major outpost I've been in so far.

I was wondering that too, since I went on a pre searing character and started getting scales. I checked out Fort Ranik and Ascalon, but have yet to see a storage person. Thanks for the info on the armor btw, you guys are awesome. ^^

So no one knows were a pre searing storage person is? o.o Or do I have to go through that again to get to a storage?

Yes--there are no Pre-Searing Xuntai Agents (the storage vendors). I think this helps to balance possibly--because otherwise you could have access to Post-Searing gear right from the start. Or it might be that since pre searing is a tutorial of sorts--they do not want have the learning curve to steep for the total newbie player. /shrug

To my knowledge, there are no storage folks in pre-sear you have to go through the accademy I believe. As for the armor compendium I believe it IS out of date, cause it lists Wyveryn Armor for Warriors as being obtainable in Yak's Bend, and I'm there, level 12, and all I can get is the helmet, which I could get in Ascalon City. Anyone have any idea where I can get the rest of it now?

Yeah it says I can get a full set of studded leather there for like nothing more than some hides and steel. God, I wish. I just realised that Drakescale is the same as what I have already, without the bonus VS fire. Laaaame. What would you guys reccomend I get next instead?
