How does Expertise work?

I have my level 12 R/N's expertise set at 6, but I don't notice any difference! Even with expertise skills, such as point blank shot, the skill cost is still the same. Furthermore, I thought expertise reduced the cost of all Ranger skills, and I don't see any difference at all between Expertise at 1, or Expertise at 6!

What am I misunderstanding?

the listed cost is not changed. the actual amount of energy you use is, however. watch your energy bar when you use a skill. it will not drop as much as it should..

this does not apply to spells.

the listed cost is the same but check and you will find you are actually using the proper amount less

yeah i wish they'd make it so the energy used updates. Coz right now i have level 7 expertise, and anything that usually uses 10 energy actually only costs 8. Next time you get to full energy, try casting Troll Unguent or something and see just how much energy is actually taken off the total.
