Secret Areas Hidden here and there...
Lucinthe Maulbearer
I've found a couple of areas scattered around that were huge and complex, and yet completely empty, having seemingly no purpose.
Best example is just outside of Fort Ranik in presear. Go south out of Ranik, then hang a right. You'll end up fighting off some Skales, and if you stick to the right side, you'll notice a little crevice in the wall behind some bushes.. if you walk through there, you come into a fairly large hidden area. No items, no characters, no enemies, and it's a dead end. But it's pretty neat.. some building ruins, some swampy water, and just a very relaxing place to hang out.
Anyone been here? I'll post up some screenies of it tonight after work.

huh, ill have to go check that out.

I know of this place! I found it when I was taking my first character through pre-searing. It was peaceful AND creepy at the same time.
After crossing into post searing I went back to that general direction hoping to see if I could get back into it. Sadly, it was now closed off. I always wondered if perhaps that may have been an exit from the catecombs that seem to run all under the presearing map.
My other cool place post searing was an oasis in prophets path. None of the monsters came down into it. It was a great place to just enjoy the beautiful artwork and take a break.
So few areas in post searing let you do that.

I wonder if there is any silimiar places in Post-Searing it would be an ideal place if you want to shoot moives without monster interferance
living too die
I found that area a few months ago. It is pretty weird yea? I wonder if A-Net will add something of importance there sometime...

Vhayr
Yeah I've been in that area, got stuck behind Gwen and a rock and couldn't leave, heh. I like the idea that it could've been an entrance/exit to the Catacombs.
Ristaron
There needs to be an option "kill Gwen". She respawns at the nearest resurrection shrine and comes running back, but she's out of your way long enough to get out of somewhere.
Lucinthe Maulbearer
I'd be happy if we could just walk through Gwen! Hell, i've been trapped against the edge of a river, halfway between a wall and a rock, etc, because she wont move her ass.
I know that sometimes she'll walk away on her own eventually, but not always.
Anyone else find any neat hidden areas?
I found another one in regent valley.. nothing nearly as huge as the first.. just a little hidden cave with a water fall in it. Just past master ranger nente, there's a natural bridge over the road. Go under it, and stick to the right.. you'll loop down to a little cave with a waterfall, and some skale.

There's a place in presear that' s NW of Barradin's Estate. Follow the "wall" and you'll eventually get to a hole in the wall, go through it and there's this very beautiful cave scene with pools of water and sun shining through holes in the roof and a few stone elementals. It's a nice area to hang out probably not so much secret as out of the way.
D.E.V.i.A.N.C.E
You will breed CHOCOBOS THERE

Hypermonkeyman

Mr Fizzle
One in pre-searing on the way from Ashford Abbey to Regent Valley y'know the lil place with all the scales in the pond?If you head a bit more north there's a small cave with a scale that uses water magic in it :O.
jonnybegood
oh yes i love to kill that thing ,i thinks it's lvl 5
Hypermonkeyman
this has to do wit that skale i think it is referd to as the skale queen i faught and killed it a bunch and it actually has the ability to drop a gold item i got one nuttin good a 10-16 swrd and had like +10% damage always o and +10 health nuttin wonderful but enough to hold my priest over in there till he was 11 and came post were i gave him a fiery dragon with +45 and + sumtin else
FFF_WarRaven
there is a section of the wilds that does have monsters, have yet to see an chests, but it was quite empty and came to a dead end, i believe it is below and to the left of bloodstone fen, it's a nice area also but there are some enemys.
It's not so much of a hidden area as an unused zone, much like dragon's gullet, past Althea's Ashes mission.
:::End Transmission:::

EagleEye33
well those types of area will prob get used more soon, like dragon's gullet is now used for the last glint quest, no?
Simdarth
I would say there are a ton of unused areas that are open. After all, they've just started expanding the universe.
Roupe
dragon's gullet is used in the Titan Source mission, given by the Glint statue after you have completed the 4 previous titan quests (Defend Droknars, Defend Denravi, Defend North Kryta, Last Day Dawns)
Canis Lupus
another place in pre-searing. up on the hill behind the basket full of apples. it isnt all that wide, but long.

Yup.. that's the area alright. "Melandru's Garden" as they call it in the other thread.
Beautiful spot, that's for sure. I'm hesitating on taking my ranger post.. I like Pre too much! Oh well.. Once you hit Kryta it's nice again. Not like friggin scorched Ass-calon.

This is not a Secret Area, but a Pre-searing Secret Quest:
Go to where Benton's group is, South of Fort Ranik.
Keep talking to them (clicking on them).
Eventually, they will give you a quest: Kill a bear within 3 min.
There's two bears nearby, so it's pretty easy.
Kill the bear and return before the timer runs out, and they hand you Hunter's Ale.
"Drink! Drink! Drink!" If you hang around, they'll even say your name. Pretty cool.

I've found a few, but the coolest 2 that I remember are:
The hidden Lyssa statue G71 on the map
Also there is a hidden Grenth tample G11 on the map.
Once you get there and if your country has favor you can get to the UW from there. Pay the 1K and you are in.
Any grenth statue that you see out there can take you to the UW if you have favor.

Anybody ever gotten so bored that he goes all the way up north in presearing? U have to go alllllllllllllll the way and kill all the charrs over the wall. Impossibly hard and tedious even wit a monk (I did it by luring them all the way back with the npc monk that heals for 100hp) U go past a bridge and see the northern wall but cant go up past it.

One place which interests me is Majesty's Rest, west from ToA. You can find Rotscale (lvl 30 dragon) there. However, I didn't find any quests linked to him. (I killed him but nothing happened) The structure behind him seems to be a door or something. It would be cool if Anet makes a portal there to a place like FoW or UW.
Lucinthe Maulbearer
I found that place also with Rotscale. He's up there along with 4 other bone dragons if I recall correctly. I didnt even attempt it.. i was only lvl 17 at the time, and I had 4 henchies with me. My gf and I only play together, so she had a lvl 17 Me/Ele at the time. Between the two of us and our 4 lvl 12 hench (or were they lvl 10?) we figured it was better to come back later.
As for the mention of the charr north of the wall in presear, has anyone actually been able to clear that area? I found a charr camp with at least 4 named enemies, plus about 20 more various charr there. Needless to say, I didnt even try on that one.. I got owned on the first group of 4 that I encountered. Anyone have any tips for defeating them?

Barinthus
There's a mini boss kind of in catacombs called Skullreaver, he's at the end of that tunnel that seems to go up to the huge round chamber full of restless corpses but its a dead end.
Barinthus
As for charrs, yeah I've cleaned them out wiht my ranger and a warrior friend. It took us forever but we got some nice drops for presearing including some purples.
Re: Majestry Rest - go for it! They're not that bad but they do look forminable but they're easy to kill
Next thing i want to do is to try clean out that charr army in northern wall mission heh

I remember that guy. On my first character, level 14 at the time (Somehow I remember this encounter with great detail lol) and a level 17 warrior and like 2-3 others, we were fighting our way to ToA I think and managed to kill all the dragons there. To this day, I have no clue whatsoever how we did it.
Also Twin Serpant Lakes.. I have actually never seen this area till I was doing a run and noticed the portal to it going to Fishermans. Explored it a bit, pretty cool looking, and a Melandru statue there as well (yay for +4-5 hp regen for 50g lol).

skullreaver dropped three items for me but nothing special.
RagingTowers
I over heard a convo about there being a tunnel in presear Ranik. If you go in it, and go far enough you end up at the end of the world. Tru?
