Determining Aggro
Jaide
Is there a way to tell if a particular monster will be aggressive or not as soon as it sees you? I've noticed that most all of the enemies I've seen after Pre-Searing seem to be aggressive, but I would like to know if there's any way to tell by clicking on them or something.
Wind
If their name is in red, they're aggressive.

What color is their name if they aren't aggressive? Sorry to sound newbish, but I don't recall enemy names in any color besides red, and some of those skales in Pre-Searing weren't aggressive. Unless my memory is just failing me. ^^;

Edit: Yeah, the Skales stopped attacking me at like 2nd or 3rd level - except the Broodmasters - they always attack.

So is it somewhat of a level difference depending on the enemy? Though a lot of low level enemies will still attack you... In most games there's an obvious system for whether or not an enemy will attack you, but that doesn't seem to be the case with Guild Wars. At least not from what I've noticed.
Devil's Dictionary
Past the Academy, all the monsters with red names attack you.
In the training/first area, only the following monsters attack:
- Skale Broodcallers
- Black Bears
- Graw Shamans
- Graw Longspear (something like that)
- Bandit Bloodsworn
- Large Aloe Seeds
- Ice Elementals
- Quest-related monsters.

What color are their names if they aren't aggressive? I just don't recall seeing enemies with any other colored name besides red. Aside from Moa Birds and things like that that will attack if they're provoked.

So it doesn't really seem that there is a tell-all system to determine aggro... Hopefully this is something they will add in the future, unless it would really be obsolete if most everything after Pre-Searing is aggressive. Thanks for the responses, everyone. ^_^
