Ok basically I got scammed 300K today, yes I know I am a retard. I am so upset and not sure where to post. Anyways his IGN name is Aliesters Shade. Anyone knows exactly how to report him? Also even if I do, that money is long gone... I mean AreanaNet can't help me get it back right? Thanks for your help, very much appreciated.

Yes, quite a few to be honest. I took loads of screenshots, which document everything really.

well since you have screenshots, he is VERY likely to be banned, i cant assure you your money back , but if you have good screenshots of the whole trade going down , he will get his =p, good luck with that , and if it makes you feel better, i think we all have been ripped off at least once, you just kinda learn from your mistakes, good luck with this

The best way to notify ANET is to go to http://support.guildwars.com. Read their FAQ about getting scammed, then fill out their "Ask a question" tab form. Use the title "EULA violation -- My character defrauded of 300k gold," and provide the time/date of the incident, the location and district#, list of items involved in the exchange, and the screen shots (in JPG form if possible).
Odds are that ANET won't return your items, but the account used to scam you will probably be deactivated either temporarily or permanently, which is a good $50.00 + hundreds of playing hours gone from the online thief. This easily amounts to way more than 300k game money in lost characters and other gear.
Good luck, and here's hoping for a perma-ban!

Hello,
I feel your grief.
Taking screenshots will not do you too much good, considering they can be easily edited, using the simplest programs.
Not saying I do not believe you, just saying it will be hard to get your money back. I was once scammed for 80k, I pretended to be a GM, the guy handed my money back at an instant. (Yea, it is wrong to pretend to be a GM, but I was desperate, and it worked!)

I am afraid I have to agree with the fact you will not get your money back, it was just a bad mistake.
Just have to learn the hard way sometimes. Find me in the game, I'll loan you 100k:
Pay me a week later, 10k a day, for 12 days.

Actually, there are ways to identify if a "screenshot" or any other digital picture has been tampered with (especially Photoshop). PS uses something along the lines of a Digital ID that is embedded in the file after being edited (don't ask me how to view this, I do not know). I'm pretty sure A.Net can tell the difference between a Photochop and an original screenshot (remember, they designed the game, and probably foresaw tampered screenshots and made-up stories to go along with them).
You'd be surprised what some screenshots and an explanation will get you. ArenaNet will investigate the issue (probably by pulling up server-side logs), and will punish appropriatly, whether it be a temporary ban (first offender), extended temporary ban (broke the rules two or three times before) or a permanant ban (repeat offender - never learned his lesson).
Although, you will never know what happened. Due to A.Nets privacy policy, they won't disclose the information to the victim, it is solely between the offender and ArenaNet themselves.
As mentioned, submit as many screenshots that you have (that are relevant), clearly explain your situation in detail, and they will investigate the offender and take action if deemed that he did indeed violate the Rules of Conduct.

Cool thanks a lot for the replies. I reported him with the right process and with about 6-7 screens which document everything. I mean I got enough cash, I am not that sad but still 300k down the drain
. In a way I am mad at myself but this guy seemed so trustworthy :/. Anyways thanks again all!

Ok guys I got a message back from AreanaNet (a couple of days ago) but it is automated. I mean will they actually do anything? If his account gets banned then my 300K was well spent (or lost lol
). But I mean what do you guys think will happen? I have not seen him on since the day so maybe he did get banned?
Anyways his name is Aliesters Shade - don't deal with him I really don't want anyone to get scammed.

A-Net would not tell you they banned the person, because that violates both their and that person's privacy. However, seeing how A-Net really dislikes any sort of malicious exploits of their game(scamming, botting, E-baying) they undoubtedly banned this person if your screenies clearly showed they scammed you. If the screenies left room for doubt, then I don't think they did anything.

My screenshots were pretty conclusive. I even gave them a screenshot showing Aliesters Shade ignoring me. It was like a 6-8 screenshot series of events...I also had a moderator for the trade, who took screens and also reported him!
