Can you update the drivers or something? D:

Have you tried to put a new fan and heatsink on it? I've used it for my ATI 9800 pro to prevent overheating and worked like a charm. The kits are about $20-$30.
The only thing is that I use Arctic Silver (I know, it's the premium stuff for CPUS) to attach the heat sink rather than the thermal paste that came with the kit). I had some left over so I figured why not use it.

You must've gotten the Salvador Dali Special Edition Video Card.
Akilles
u may not even need a new fan, if the fan is spinning check the heatsink around the fan, dust can clog the air paths and thus overheat your GPU.

no, it's the card itself. Sapphire Radeon 9600 are known PoSs online
P.S. everyone don't ever buy sapphiretech video cards again since they screw us consumers

i'm running a saphire 9600xt myself... used omega drivers ever since i've had it with little to no problems, performance doesn't seem that great however.

Thats what they call "tearing" the most common cause of this is the vidio card RAM overheating. i would pick up some "RAM SINKS" and intall them with "arctic silver epoxy" and not the 2 sided tape that most come with.
you can allso try positioning a case fan to blow across the ram on the vido card.

*mesmorized with first first picture* SOOOOO PRETTY!

this is the kind of tearing you get with overheating ram

Running a Sapphire X800 overclocked to ~500/1000 (Ati drivers and Ati tool) with watercooling and Arctic silver compound around 40 celcuis under full use. Have never had a single issue with it running almost every game I own at full specs. Could be luck of the draw, but I've never heard of all Sapphire cards running poorly.
On topic, although that does hurt. At least the price for those cards has gone down and you wont be paying an arm and a leg for a new one.

its only 5 months old get an RMA and replace it no biggie

well cmon, video cards are not miracle workers, if the rest of your comp gear is crappy, itll put too much strain on your video card and processor.
and you know nothing about salvador dali's art, that picture looks more like cubism than surrealism.

ok Mr. Smartypants, it ain't Dali.... but it sure ain't cubism with those trees. More like a failed attempt at cubism.

As far as i know my computers never been over 40 C :\
Yichi
Sorry to hear about your vid card. that sucks. I use a Nvidea Fx5500 OC 128 meg overclocked. works awesome. was cheap at like 120$. id suggest that one for a good replacement
neoteo
mmm , did you try to take the card out and put it back again ? could be dust in the slot ...this days computers need over cooling system , dont ever think you have too much fans , cose cpu , mobo , and gpus , really burn ... i had to change mine becose i left pc running guildwars in a hot afternoon + a lot of dust in the cpu fan ,,, cpu fan melted ... now i have 7 fans , makes a lot of noize , but makes me feel safe
Sakora
oh yeah ive taken my whole computer appart checking all connections, even cleaned my fans. ive got a Nvidia 6600, not sure :\ i didnt buy it ^_^
Vilaptca
Did you try kicking it? Or hitting it really hard? That works sometimes with my flashlight when the batteries are dying...
Omega_2005
Try the Nvidia 6600 then, it'll be much less prone to crashing, but it may be blocky in areas... I usually get texture squares without editing the graphics option, but that's just a quibble... Better than the Sapphire ones any day!
