A map maker would be cool so you could build your own map and put down monsters or make quests for other people to do,
what do you guys think?

Guild Wars is an online game. You can't just make a map for yourself, because everyone else is in the same online world and it would just be like Anet adding areas. If it were an offline game, yes maybe that would be fun, but sadly it isn't, it's online.

mayb you could make it offline then upload it and hav a place where you can put you map so other people could go on it but if you do go on it you dont egt any gold or things that monsters drop.. its a bit of a crappy sugestion.. mayb i should have thought about it a bit more first

I think the Guild Wars world is beautiful, and it's a wonderful testament to the graphics artists at ANet. Making a map maker always exchanges this diversity for ease of use. This was true of Diablo 1 and 2 (which had randomly generated maps), and also true of Neverwinter Nights. I'll grant they did a decent job in NWN, but in the end it always lacked a certain uniqueness, even if one was creative with the tools.

And apart from that, this is an online massively multiplayer (sort of), and the idea just doesn't work well. Consider the load times. Consider the possibility of people hacking your computer when you enter their area. Consider the possibility of people hacking ANet's servers. Consider the huge amounts of generally crappy quality places people will build (among some possibly good ones). Consider the space required to host such a thing. Consider the potential for gold and item aquisition exploits. Consider the powerleveling exploits.

And finally consider the fact that it doesn't really add a whole lot to the game when all is said and done, yet takes a huge amount of work to impliment and consequently, maintain.

Uhh Guild Wars does have a map maker, but you wont get it. Guild wars I think uses U-Ed or Worldcraft because I looked at there job sections and for what spot I think was the enviromental artist or something needed skills in using those two programs, which are both map makers for a wide array of games

This probably would never be implemented, because people would exploit it horribly. For example - people making an endless maps filled with Green-dropping bosses, all isolated so that they were easy to kill. Also, PvP maps wouldn't be much better, you could make it so one team was horribly disadvantaged. It could also be used for a potential Faction-farm for a bot - one team is locked in a room filled with burning, poisoning water, and the other team constantly gets flawlesses.

Nice idea, but I don't think it would work at all. Even if Anet found a way to get it all balanced, it would take an enormous amount of effort and time.

I think it's a good idea if u don't think about the bad side of it comin' along. And why would ppl suddenly hack ANet when u get a map maker? Ppl hacking u when u enter their map might make som sense tho. I really like the idea like making ur own kinda sjit for a proportion of the map and having ur friends come over killing lvl 24 charr, shadows and all stuff 2geter. But what 'bout the drops? U prolly would have customize that on ur map wich would totally ruin the trading in gw. (You having gold loot each time)
