So, while it seems most likely that we're gonna get some kind of Christmas celebration with Santa and the like in Lion's Arch...
We need a new area to explore.
I reckon, with Chapter 2 being scheduled around April next year, they must at least give us one more thing like Sorrows. I mean, by then, surely we're gonna be a bit tired out of the current main places to go now we've finished the game (FoW, Uw, Sorrows).
Here's the idea. King Adelbern and the various officials in Tyria have, to celebrate the festive season, called for a grand Charr-beating expedition.
That's right, those beasts still lurk up there in the north and hammer at the gates of Ascalon. Now it's time for us adventurers who left that land so long ago to return and show the Charr leaders what we're really made of. So, all of us are called to venture into the Charr homelands, home to Charr that are highest level 24 (so we can still whoop em).
So we add a new area, going from the Flame Temple Corridor (you can see there is a gap beneath it) right up past Dragon's Gullet and into the northern most reaches of that corner of the map. There'll be Charr camps aplenty, and good drops aplenty. There will be an outpost half way through that has been set up by rebelling prisoners that will help in this great expedition. There will be a few quests from there based on the idea of penetrating and destroying the Charr. Culminating in the battle with their grand leader and his mob, of course.
Moreover, as it is also the named 'Charr Skinning Season' - yeah thats right - we're gonna be charging in there to grab the most valuable Charr hides. Not only will the Charr be giving good drops but also they will be, on their death, presenting Charr hides of ranging value. The idea is to link this to the celebrations in Droknar's by making these Charr hides worth a certain level of gift from whatever thing gives you it (santa, or whatever). So, Charr butt-whoopin' and skinning, quests to defeat the Charr once and for all, and then gifts. Oh, and a certain level of farming available of course. Perhaps these things would last for a certain 3-4 weeks, either around Christmas or running up to it. At the end of this the area and enemies and quests would still be there, just the 'valued hides' would be gone.
What I want to do in the Christmas holiday: Give the Charr a good beatin'! Hell yeah!

Id love to go charr hunting. I think this is a great idea. The new outpost could be some kind of hunting camp or something.

I just thought of it cos it really surprised me how much we don't know about what's happened to the lands we left behind. I mean, we fled from those puny Charr across the mountains and have heard nothing of the story in Ascalon since, apart from that one Titan Quest there which doesn't indicate anything at all. Could the Charr have sacked Ascalon City and moved down to Fort Ranik, the last stronghold, and starved them to death? Or could the few that remained in Ascalon still be holding out against the Charr?
Hmmm.
Whatever the case, going to hunt and defeat the Charr now we're high level would give us the knowledge that the Charr have not beaten Ascalon yet and so by defeating them we would remove them from the world and we would know Ascalon, the country we were called to save, but from which we went to save the whole continent instead, but that country is finally safe.
Also, yes of course, I would be very enthusiastic about a Charr hunt

Of course, no ones feelings from a certain people of islam will be affected?

Just say'n; thats why there's Winter Lights; and its rare to have a business not tell you "Happy Holidays, How may I direct your call?"

Anyhow it will be winter themed I bet; just not in any perticular fashion I assume.

personally I hate the holiday's everyone becomes an asshole, and being around the twin cities with over 1/2 a million people(4,919,479) within the state of MN, and 1 major bridge across the Mississippi river(now recently DONE with construction) is still only 3-4 lanes and preparing for another 8hr trip for xmas(mostly stop and go at around >10mph) Yeah I'm in a great mood

Well this year Xmas and Chanukah start on the same day and Kwanza is the day after. I don't know about the muslim holidays... So having a Holiday Season Update would be sufficiently PC i think.

Hi,

I sure hope we don't have problems here with people bashing X-mas! Bah Humbug!

What ever happened to the good old days when we didn't have to worry about offending anyone by even using the word 'Christmas'. How is Christmas offensive to anyone? And why did it become blacklisted? I still don't get it...

BTW. I think over 95% of the people playing this game celebrate Christmas (including me)! But to ask the question, do they have Christmas in Tyria...probably not. Most likely a generic 'Winter Celebration' that is embraced by all peoples of Tyria regardless of religion.

Yeah OK I guess not everybody playing Guild Wars are Christians are they

I mean Koreans - how many of them are Christians? Is their dominant religion Buddhism, Shintoism or something? And Chinese too. Or are they non-religios? cos of like Communist government and such. Hope I didn't make any comments that would be offensive to anyone there.
But I agree that it should not be Christmas celebration. It should a general Winter Festive Season, with stuff like Snowmen, snow, 'little people', pine trees and bright decorations that are generally associated with the winter season.
Back to the topic of the Charr hunting, I guess not in all cultures people receive presents at Winter Season, so maybe instead you could use the varied valued hides to exchange for various things. Such as:

Turkey - makes you character look fatter for a certain time
Pine Tree head - (no need to explain)
Snowman head ( )
Shining necklace - necklace with bright shining beads
and various other things.
These would require certain amounts and values of the Charr hides from the new land. This would obviously encourage you to get out there and start collecting them, so you would go and do the quests and farm there and do eveything else too.
Maybe also you could wear a Charr skin-coat (a bit like Hercules with his lion-skin one).
If they did any stuff like this I would be sure happy.
Along with the new Charr lands and quests and everything else.

Whatever the situation, a winter charr-skinning season I hope would be welcomed amongst most inhabitants of Tyria

I like the idea a lot, more areas are always fun and i also felt that Ascalon was left at a severer loose end.
But Jesus d.e.v.i.a.n.c.e lighten up, unless i cant say Jesus anymore. I'm an athiest and i still like presents.

This sounds fine and all, but will this "event" delay Chapter 2 if it was to happen? I'm sure that they planned both Sorrows Furnace and the Halloween Event. But did they plan anything further?
