Need to vent about a group...

I've been trying to get the Final Assault quest done for about two weeks now. It's hard enough to find a group that isn't just farming, and it's even harder since I'm a Mesmer (despite the fact that we do a darn good job of shutting down the djinn at the end).

I finally got a group quickly this evening. Looked like a great group... even though an Ele dropped halfway into the furnace, we were still kicking butt.

By the time we had gotten to the Iron Forgeman, one of our three monks dropped. No problem, two should be plenty.

Here's where the group falls apart due to the inability of people to follow simple directions. Before we go in, it is clearly explained that we need to clear out everything else before taking on the dark binders, because they respawn if we don't kill all three at once. No one seems to have any problem understanding this.

Until we get in there, that is. After wiping out the patrol and a couple guardians, we all pull out to rest as agreed upon earlier. Except one ele who is trying to solo a dark binder. We all tell him to pull out but he stays in there blasting away. He dies, and then yells at the smiting monk for not healing him. The monk gets pissed and won't res him. Finally someone rezes him, and we go back and finish off the other guardians.

So we make the typical plan... two groups, one goes left, the other right, take out those two binders and meet to finish off the third. Everyone is assigned their group, everyone says ready, and we go. My group gets halfway in when someone from the other group starts yelling to run back out because apparently he thought he needed to start at the other entrance to the area. So half of our group heads back out and the other half dies. We res again... this time we go to separate entrances since this person couldn't seem to understand it any other way, and we try the same plan. We go in and kill our binder, only to find there is only one other person from the other group of three attacking the second binder. I have no idea where everyone else was. We try to assist but since half the party is MIA, the binders respawn, people die, and we're back outside.

We try this seemingly simple plan a THIRD time. Players A, B, C, D go left, players X, Y, Z go right. We go in. About 40% of the people go where they were told to 10 seconds earlier. I know one person who went all the way to the third binder, going neither left nor right. Everyone curses and people leave.

We could have had this so easily if people knew how to follow simple directions. Is "attack the binder on the right" really too complicated? We were sooo close. We could have rezed too and tried again if people weren't so impatient and just had to leave. Do they realize it'll take longer to find a group and fight down there again than it would to take a minute to make a plan and stick to it?

Sorry for the long rant... I just needed somewhere to vent my frustrations. I'm not sure I'm going to be able to try the quest again for a couple days without my blood pressure rising .

yes. its good experience. yes communication is a problem in this game. most people are too stupid or arrogant to do what they are told, even if it is a great plan.

To play the PvE party of it. Not everyone is there to farm...

I do it because it's fun. I like to accomplish things, especially as part of a team. Farming seems like more of a chore than a way to spend my free time enjoyably.

because some people aren't really interested in farming the living crap out of the furnace and the footprint.

some people want to get some EXP for another skill that they want or need.

some people want to have fun and finish some of the quests there and see the cinematics that ANET's programmed.

some people want to be able to say, "yeah, i've finished all the quests in SF. what about you?"

there's several reasons, some that i haven't stated here. it's not about green farming, after all.

well.. it certainly appears that everyone is only there to farm, which is why I gave up on the place considering I'm interested in finishing that particular quest.

i simply gave up trying to do all the quests because i'm too lazy. i just wanted to get some good drops and maybe make a fortune off of a lucky razorstone or rago's flame staff drop.

Me, two guildies and Henchmen did the quests with ease... We only had trouble at the Djinn (That thing is TOUGH). Even then, we finished it... because I lead the Djinn into a pulverizer, my god, was that classic...

Anyway, what i'm getting at is, don't waste your time with PUGs, get some friends and fill in the empty slots with Henchmen.

It moves very fast too. Did you have any speed skills?

Nah, what happened was, it got bugged. Just stood there for the longest time. Got some awesome screenies standing next to him, and then I decided to try and lead him to the Pulverizers... I used 'Throw Dirt' and then ran to the Nearby Pulverizer... he nearly killed me, when the pulverizer came down and crushed us both... (no death penalty, hahah!). My Guildies couldn't stop laughing.. neither could I

You're thinking of the wrong quest. The last one when you're helping Trask is "Fire in the Hole" where you have to kill a flame Djinn. That one you can kill by leading him to the pulverizers since he'll follow.

At the end of Final Assult, there's three djinns and they won't move outside the forgeman room.

Those guys are also bugged. We were 5 people and finished off the binders and the Djinn, me being the only monk. The Djinn are so bugged, thank god. They just wouldn't move and we could kill them from range.

To the OP: there is a reason why so many people consider such an easy mission as Thunderhead close to impossible. That same reason screws most Final Assault groups as well, as you well observed during your attempts to do it *sigh*.

I guess that the outpost chat spoils your "roleplaying" "fun" because if you had it turned on you'd know how many people are looking for quest groups in the War Camp.

OP - the biggest issue we had is omg 60dp... I'm out or it's "impossible. Took about 12-15 pug attempts to pull it off.

Here's the trick to the dijin we've found. You kill the dijin at the area you start at after the cutscene and the golem blowing up. Reason for this is the dwarfs will also be part of the divide of damage . The two that like to aggro together, hold a keg. Someone drawing aggro with a keg in hand, tends to draw one, not both.

And know that I beat all the SF missions I'm off doing bonus missions that I missed.

gwen...this was ingnorance on your part. overnite was just poking fun at the average GW player who only visits War Camp to farm for greens, either to sell them for cash or use it themselves.

at least, that's what i think.

If its the same as FoW or UW, ie you can do the quests over and over and get 5000-10000 experience for each one, then its a damn good way of acquiring skill points. If you have an established character you probably have like 40-50 skill points you don't know what to do with, but if you have a fairly new one, for example a ranger or mesmer that people don't want in PvE, and want him to cover several secondaries and builds, those skill points are an absolute necessity.
