Hi folks,
Well I'm a level 9 W/N and I've been looking to craft some armor. Based on what I've heard, attaining fur takes forever so the armor 50 Ascalon stuff is out of the question for now.

So my question is which of the following is better:
Armor 35 ascalon stuff
Armor 50 normal stuff

The latter is probably better since it obviously has a higher AC, but doesn't the Ascolon stuff have some sort of damage reduction? Also, how exactly does a higher AC work in Guild Wars. It doesn't appear to be D&D or Diablo style.

Cheers!

Read somewhere that the damage reduction on the ascalon armour is 2. That certainly isn't alot. My tip is to just grab whatever armour you can, since you will upgrade multiple times and have the option for other armour sets later on.

don't worry about a full suit of ascalon armor, the damage reduction doesn't stack

Until you can twink your other characters, I'd stick with the base armor until you get to the max AF armor.

the damage reduction might not stack, but when you get hit, if i'm not mistaken, there's a chance for every individual piece to get struck.. I presume if the piece that is struck does not have the damage reduction on it, you won't recieve the reduction.

I've heard that also but there's another topic on here where a guy actually tested different combinations with the Ascalon Armor and never received more that -2 no matter how many times hit or what pieces he was wearing. I would say from that information that the damage reduction counts everywhere, not on the location.

Actually, stock up on Iron and Tanned Hides... then when you get to Yak's Bend, visit the Armorer there to get the 'Gladiator' set. It's damn good armor, and it provides extra energy as well... which would be suited for a support secondary like Necro.
