Server Speed Feedback Needed

Had database issues a few times today. Nothing major as such just had to refresh a few times.
kzap
reset mysql, let us know here if you are still having problems
Malice Black
yep..nothing but problems since I logged on, took 4 attempts just to access this thread.

I'm not a very computer type of person BUT the page loads and then I just site there for awhile, sometimes get a white page saying ERROR, I can log in fine it's just the pages loading which annoys me
mq nn
of all the sites i go to its the slowest. seems even slower in the auction section. a lot of times the site doesn't load up.
Former Ruling
I'm back up to ~40% of the time having slowdowns or complete page load errors.
Not QUITE as bad as before the server upgrade, but getting there.

Noted. Trying to get some info from the server admin on what we can do here.
Malice Black
Running smoother tonight, only had 1 database error last night and that only took 1 refresh to fix.

Yes, the servers are pretty slow, especially at the auctions,

I love this site.......but it is the SLOWEST.I try all differant times of the day,I live in Washington state.Everyday same thing sloooooow load or this page can not be displayed.
Most of the time when I do get in I can't get past The Riverside Inn section or some sections takes forever to load or this page can not be displayed again.........so frustrating. (took me 5 tries and almost a 1/2 hour just to post this)

Recently I’ve been having a lot of page timeouts when trying to view the forums or auction pages. I’d say about 9 out of every 10 forum page requests results in either a timeout or an extremely slow load time, and I get loads of SQL errors when trying to view the auctions. For instance, I just spent about 10 minutes trying to load a 2 page thread in the HA forum, and currently the auction site is completely unviewable for me.
I’m not sure if anyone else is having this problem, but I’m certain it’s not my connection. Just wanted to let this be known.

Thanks you guys, noted.

It took roughly 3 dozen attempts (absolutely NO exageration) to access this thread. No other page will open, either. I could load in the main forum view and that was all.
While this is the worse it's been, I have consistent trouble with page time-outs. I had chalked it up to my internet connection somehow (altho it's broadband) but apparently others are having the same or similar trouble.

It's currently in the middle of the day and then the speed is ok.
Whenever I try to access the site in a busier time, it takes ages to load a page, like 1 whole minute. I don't even have to TRY loading 2 threads simultaniously. I have a really decent 6.2Mb ADSL connection. This has always been this way though, both before and after your eccelerator

there is no improvement since my last post, actually I think it is worse----now I cant upload images half of the time either....
and search! NEVER worked------(not that I really want to sit for hours just to wait for that information anyways).
not sure what you can do about these problems, but just letting you know they are still here and not getting any better.

It took me about 10 minutes and 4-5 tries to get to this page. Now I'm wondering how many attempts until I actually post this reply.

it's been working a lot better for me the last 2 weeks. used to take few seconds to start loading but now it's truly quick.
Blackhawk
Still slow and times out 80% of the time.
Oh a GW forum
SLLOOWWWW
I don't get timed out like I used to, but it's still terribly slow at times.

Usually super slow here on a 20mb connection. There are moments of random speed but they are not the norm. I also get a very common fun bug of logging in, getting a slow load and then when the page refreshes I'm not logged in anymore.. Rinse and repeat until it sticks. It's really fun when posting to get logged out when pressing submit.. Still.. It's my favourite site and i'll put up with it

It has its ups and downs. It has been better lately but it does go down usually about 11-12 or just runs extremely slowly.

Okay, this is getting ridiculous. A few minutes ago, when I first got here via my bookmarks, the site was running rather slow. When Riverside Province finally loads up, the site has done its most annoying trick: my cookies are fiddled with and every thread is marked as having been read. I absolutely loathe when this happens, as I rely on my cookies to see what I've read, what I haven't, and to navigate to the last unread post.
This doesn't happen a lot, but often enough.

Feminist, I have noticed this problem with a number of vbulletin and even invision boards. I'm inclined to think it stretches beyond anything we can fix since I have noticed the same thing on several boards. I'll check out a few help forums and see what they recommend.
Malice Black
I'm finding I have to log on everytime I visit, I didn't have to do this up until a few days ago..I click remember me but it obviously does not want to remember me.
Site is ok, get a few time outs once in a while but you get use to that after being here a while.

Ahh, so it might be a widespread problem, or even a fundamental flaw in the board software itself? I've severely cut down on my forum usage in the past year and a half, so that might be why I haven't run across this problem before. Lemme know if you find out anything, please.

Happens all the time to me on another VB-powered board, so I'm inclined to say it isn't limited to gwg.
Hockster
Virtually every VB board I visit can't keep track of read threads properly.

Just a heads up, we did some server work last night. Updating some things, trying to improve performance. Now we have more forum users than usual today but I'm seeing some things work faster so please let me know how the forums are doing performance wise. Thanks!
Malice Black
The site in general is going pretty quick.
Jelloblimp
Was pleasantly surprised when the forums are (much) faster despite a big patch today (leads to more users on the forums).
kzap
is it just me or is it faster here?
Malice Black
Indeed, I've not had any problems in the last few days which is pretty good considering how the member level is rising.
Feminist Terrorist
The last couple of days the site has been working splendidly. Well done, whatever you guys have done.
Malice Black
No error pages in days now...sardelac and sell forums do grind to a halt on occasions though, I'm guessing this is down to them being the most visted areas on guru...
VitisVinifera
yeah this site has been flowing much faster the last few days which is sweet......I was thinking when NF goes live, there goes guru...........but nope! WOrking better than ever
as for wiki.......ugh

It is very fast atm, pages load instantly. I hope it lasts
kzap
and we're holding under heavy load
Feminist Terrorist
Intermittent slowdowns, and a few time outs, but overall not too bad.
Inde
Feminist, just because some queries were getting locked up with all the guests on. Almost a new record! I saw it up to just over 6500+. Not too bad at all. Good stress test for the server, but that was only the Euro servers going down in GW. It puts fear in the heart of the admins here if the US servers were to have gone too.
