www.guildwiki.org is down!
Lord Oranos
Guildwiki is down, for the moment. Basically, we're too big for shared hosting. We meltdown any shared server we touch. We need a dedicated machine, and we're having trouble finding a reliable one in our price range. You can continue donating, and say hello to our sponsors at the bottom of the screen. We'll be moving to a dedicated box with ev1servers.net ASAP. Watch this space for updates, and you can email me at: phil.nelson AT gmail dot com. - Gravewit
As you can see, the site is down, the web admin left a hopeful message that it will be back up soon though.
One of the best gw related sites Ive been to.

Unlucky, I know how bandwidth can be costly for web servers.
Dedicated is your best option to say the least.

Guildwiki is doing a great job! Hope you manage to get online again soon!

Yeah, I feel lost without wiki!
*gasp* - Will I have to start using the "search" button here!?
(yes, that was a slam to all the insta "use the search button" repliers!)

Yep, I noticed it the day it happened. REAAAAALLY sucks since they were my best (and the only reliable) source of info...I hope they come back up, they rule.
Lord Oranos
Yeah they have a clean, easy to navigate site, I love GWG but I admit I sometimes had an easier time finding information there. But GWG has more info so it has its reasons.
Mark of Rodgort
omg i <3 this site. amen.

I like Guildwiki for info like collectors, quests, ect.
I like GWO and GWG for strategies, builds, ect. (Yes, GWO does have a lot of merged threads, but that's because people are too lazy to use the search function or their eyes and post the same question 5 threads above the last one >_<)
I like the OT forum for spamming!

Bandwidth is usually the issue. I'm currently using www.lunarpages.com. For a modest $7.95/mo I get 100GB transfer per month. 200GB is $22.95, and they have dedicated solutions starting at $99 (2000GB/mo).

What are your bandwidth requirements for guildwiki?
Have you asked for content encoding on the web server,to reduce your bandwidth requirements?

You might want look into Media Temple (http://www.mediatemple.net/). They host a lot of popular / high end web design sites (e.g. http://www.2advanced.com/) so stability and bandwith shouldn't be a problem.
Sarus
For a high bandwidth site like wiki you have to be careful when you used share hosting services. Usually the cheapest ones overload each server with accounts and hope that each account does not use anywhere near the amount of space and bandwidth allocated to them. If you actually plan on using up all the bandwidth you have allocated to your account then you might start running into problems. There are definitely good shared hosting services out there but they usually cost more so people think they are rip offs. The fact is they might only put 50 accounts on a server instead of 200. The problem of course is you can't tell what you're getting beforehand.
egads
I think a lot of you are mistaking the OP for the owner of the site.
Anyway, it's made me realise how often I used it. The information is mostly scattered around forums such as this one, but the organisation and completeness of guildwiki.org kept me coming back. I hope it's up and running again soon.
In the mean time I've been using the Google cache of the site where possible.

Since guildwiki went down, I haven't been able to find any site that comes close to the usefulness of it.. specifically for skill aquisition. Sure we have some on this site, but it's far from complete, and outdated to boot. Do you guys know of any other sites where I can get my fix, so I can stop shaking? Er.. I mean so I can keep playing my necro..
FireFox
Wait till tomorrow my friend...

Geez.. this is bad. I think that we should all make an effort to make our skill liste/aquisition AT LEAST as accurate as guildwiki was. That would mean skill descriptions, and throwing out all the pages of trash that's on the aquisition pages. I say let's do this. I can help a bit.
TheCrimsonBlur
Oh, yes, oh hell yes. Guildwiki will be up sometime today (Nov 13th).
This just makes you wonder how important that site really is. Best info you can get really (also, it is a great show that wiki-based info is more comprehensive, more specific, and in general better to any other source of info)
