Suggestion: Character "Skill/Ability Sets"
Arngrim120
I've been digging through the forums here for a while, but haven't found this suggestion, so I'm gonna post it. Don't hate on me if it's been posted a million times before.
I play a ranger, and like to change my build frequently depending on the situation. It would be nice to have savable character skill/ability sets. For instance, set up my abilities/skills for trapping as one set and save it. Then set up skills/abilities for PvP and save that. It could work much like Weapon Sets do now.
I have no idea what kind of problems adding this extra data storage would create for the developers, but it would be nice to be able to switch character builds quickly this way. Any thoughts or insights?

i want this to happen. i keep one slot open for pvp. if i had preset mods that i could save and bring up any time would save me 10-15 minutes to make a pvp character.

yeah it was suggested tons, and unfortunately its not in. I would love this. Just a little extra thing where you can keep maybe 5 different builds in the bottom of your skill window. Go to town, press 'k' for skills, and either make up a new build or grab your favourite trapper/smiting/healing/nuking/tanking build in a second. Would make party forming a bit faster.

If this has been suggested, why isn't it in?! Seems an obvious yet easy inclusion. Just as we have weapon slots, have build slots you can assign builds to. As GW is all about experimenting with combos, once you've found a combo you like it makes sense to bookmark it.

lol i know. it'd be like a pve equivalent of the 'ready made chars' in pvp (cept pvp could use it too ). Wouldn't unbalance anything. Just make it easier.

This would be great, especially if the attribute points would be assigned along with the skill set.

I'm sure if you searched through the forum a while you would find a topic about this, because its been suggested wayyy many times before, in fact there was a thread up here about it last night.

keep finding myself to switch builds...
striderkaaru
the fact that it has been suggested so many times should clue anet in...
however, the issue is probably data storage and limiting players to a certain number of saveable attribute/skill sets. it would be nice to have them for your most often used builds though.

read my post "toggle complete skill sets" there are too many post with this idea poping up since I posted it and I havent found any posted before. I think this is a good idea that they all should be merged.

I suggest doing away with a need for skill sets at all. A skill is just that: a skill. It's not like someone just "forgets" that they know a skill. Allow us the use of all our skills, but with only the current 8 readily available. Maybe have a little button next to skills that could bring up the rest of your skills to be used. Maybe that's too much to ask, but I think it's silly to allow us to learn skills, but then not be able to use all of the knowledge we have gained. Makes the game more skill too.
I've seen that some say it's already a game of skill, but my interpretation of this is that it's a game of "who's got the better skills". It's not really a measure of skill, but a measure of timing in how you use skills. Allow a block/dodge option (that isn't passively attached to a skill) that makes a character react immediately, but doesn't cause them to disengage the enemy. I would say that the right mouse button would do well, but that's attached to camera movement. Maybe holding the right mouse button in cunjunction with a direction would cause the character to either raise a shield (if they have one) or dodge in that direction?
