I haven't had a new character in a long time and so i decided to create a ranger today as i wondered how good they were to play with.

I did a few quests and then went in to the catacombes(sp?) and this dropped from one of the crypt things that look like nightmares.

Have there always been lower versions of the crystal swords?

yes it's not quite the rare sword of lore, but it looks nice eh.

Yeah, the Long Swords are very common in Pre-Searing. They, for some reason, have the same skin as the Crystalline sword. It's funny to keep one and to have it equipped when you are in a populated town, so everyone thinks you're some totally rich, awesome player

Er... You can't see people's weapons in cities though >_<

this is the reward from the prize moa bird quest (pitney)... it is not a drop.

Ok...by town I mean in Arena battles.... or such. Shame there is that weapon skin though, makes the Crystalline seem less unique.

It has some nice mods for a pre-searing weapon.

there is also a 10-14 damage long sword that looks the same and it also
has +15%damage whiled hexed and +15%damage while enchanted, i carry
it around to show of and it isnt THAT bad of a sword exepcpt for the fact you cand mod it.

By cand, do you mean can't, and if so...yes...you can mod them. I have an enchanting pommel on mine.
