Pets + Beast Mastery?

Just wondering aside from other BM spells, does BM affect your pet directly? i.e. will more points in BM increase it's hit points, defense or attack? I know the pet levels on it's own but curious if extra points in this skill are worth dumping since I am just using my pet, and the revive/heal spell.

I know it increases damage, and it may increase hit points as well. If you hover your mouse cursor over the BM attribute in your Hero screen it will tell you what all it affects I believe.
