Okay, i did look in the already suggested ideas thread at the top and did not see this listed. I appologise if it has already been suggested.
First, i realize the GW is not an MMO and thus PvP in GW is different than in most MMOs. however, my suggestion is to add PvE type areas, that multiple players (a maximum of 8-12) can enter not necissarily at the same time, and my spawn at different locations in the hunting ground. these characters my form alliances to farm mobs, possible complete quests (i have not givin much thought to quests being included in these areas) or fight eachother.
personally i find this "blend" of PvE and PvP much more appealing than straight PvP in an arena.
I just think it would be really neat to be out in an area and all the sudden realize you aren't the only player out here.
when you entered a contested hunting ground it you would be placed in an instance, just like normally, however, you would probably be placed in an already running instance with 1 or more players already there. or, if you enter an empty hunting ground, players may be added to it later.
Im not sure whether you should have the option of entering as a party into the same instance.
this is just an idea and it is undoubtedly riddled with flaws an unanswered questions.
would anyone care to share their oppinion on this idea?
thank you,

hmmm...interesting concept. The setup could work just like one of the story line missions, only once your team enters the mission you'll have another team to compete/cooperate with. I like it.

i actually wasn't even thinking of teams, but that could easily be implemented as well.
i am a very casual PvE player and dont really care about mission because i find them very tedious and the objectives to be very mundane and boring.
i was thinking of it more as a "farming with risks" type of PvEvP environment.
i have yet to think of any way in which this would harm game balance or be impossible due to server/system constraints.
i started all those sentances with i!

With work, it could fit in a large new area of a PvE map.
Sadly, I fear it may be abused and turned into a farming hotspot if not done perfectly...

how could it be a farming hotspot any more than existing PvE areas?
I admit there is risk. I also admit that one of my ideas was that because of the risk of getting "ganked" by other player while farming, they could make better drops here. however, if you were allowed to enter in a party that would obviously not work.
also, sorrows furnace taught us that PvE areas dont actually need to fit on the map to exist.

I like the idea, tweak it so the drops aren't too over the top, but have it so if you kill a rival hunter you can grab some faction.
Perhaps make this a mission-thing, like you say enter mission, and 8 ppl enter the arena, no teams, free for all.
And you must hunt X anima/enemy in X time. And at the end of the round, the player with least animal/enemy kills get kicked, and so on, until only one person is left, and they earn the right to hunt in that arena, and take on a final boss animal which gives a nice drop.
my added idea =^ . ^=

no offense, but i dont really want to play "survivor: guild wars"
while i don enjoy all the input and im not too picky about the end result if Anet does decide to try something like this, i really want it to be less structured and more like just going out into a PvE area to explore and there being the chance of other players and sudden PvP OR teaming up to do PvE. I really DON'T like the idea of a purely pvp based "mission"
also, i think offering faction for kills might allow faction farming exploits, but im not sure... i was thinking there would be no realy tangible reward except for maybe a killcount or something like the ears you collect in Diablo 2.
Edit: and when i said better drops, i just meant slightly better not like golds all over the place or anything. maybe just good slavage items.
just think how neat it could be though, if we dont worry about actually putting the area on the map, you just port to it from major cities, each area of the game could have a hunting grounds.
oh i just thought of something. one of the flaws in my idea is that unlike most games, creatures in guild wars dont respawn... for this idea to work the way i envision it, things would have to replenish... that would encourage farming...
i guess if players entered it at the same time thing wouldn't have to respawn.
it would work more like this:
you go to enter the hunting grounds, there is like a countdown and then based upon the number of people who wanted to enter the hunting grounds at that exact time you and a random amount of other players spawn in the hunting grounds and you dont know how many other players are in there, there might even be none (if NO other players wanted to enter the hunting grounds)
as i said, there would be a maximum number of players allowed in a hunting ground depening on the size of the hunring ground, as there would have to be one unique spawn point for each player, or party. each hunting ground would have a maximum party size.
here are some examples
Ascalon Hunting Grounds:
Maximum parties allowed in: 4
Maximim players per party: 2
Yaks Bend Hunting Grounds:
Maximum partis allowed: 4
max players per party: 4
Lions Gate hunting Grounds:
Max parties: 6
max players per party: 4
Crystal Desert Hunting grounds:
max parties: 6
max players per party: 6
Droknar's Hunting Grounds:
max parties: 8
max players per party: 6
and the maps would be increasingly large and themed apropriately.
eventually there could be alternate maps for each hunting grounds.
my specific ideas asside, i think it's important that this notbe strickly pvp. that players may choose to keep their distance from eachother or join parties if they do not want to fight.
