Just unlucky? Or doing something wrong?

Hey,

We'll today I finally decided to venture towards lions arch. I arrived finally and was quite excited because on the way I had unlocked 3 runes and a bow string. So I buy my expert salvage kit, salvage the items... and think

Out of the 4 items I didn't get one special item. I asked my guild about it and they said it's usually easy to get one. So I'm wondering if it's just bad luck or am I doing something wrong?

Unless you actually salvaged the rune itself..it was just bad luck.

Heres exactly what I did:

1) pick up "unidentified item"

2) identify it (came up "bow string unlocked")

3) salvage using expert salvage kit

Each time it just said "Got 3 wood planks from ---". I even looked through all my bags but couldn't find anything.

Is this the right process?

yes correct process, just unlucky.

i saved up an entire vault of blue items just waiting to get my first expert salvage kit.

almost every single one salvaged as common materials.

i don't think iding the item matters, but it might.

i am also unsure if the level of the mob it was dropped from matters either. people say the level of the mob only affects how many materials you get, but we are all just guessing until we read something from ncsoft.

the only sure thing (or very high probability) is on items listed as 'highly salvageable'...all of those return something good...often a rune or upgrade
