I've played an elementalist from the day I got Guild Wars and I've gone through pretty much every element. Started out with Fire, and moved through air earth and water. Right now I play a spiker/earth ward hybrid caster in both pve and pvp. Even my r/e doesn't equal the damage output of my air/earth elementalist. I for one am happy to see this change to the AI from a strictly gameplay sense. The damage to the economy is another matter entirely. I can't see this change affecting a good spiker at all, and it will definitlely bring alternative ways of playing to the forefront. It's good to have even if it just stirs things up a little.
As for the economy, I see it temporarily driving prices through the roof. (Buy ectos now if you can) While later on prices will fall again as people realise that there just isn't that much gold coming into the eceonomy anymore. Running is viable suer, but it doesn't actually produce gold, only farming does that, and as of right now it seems to be pretty non-viable.

Well, in the next 2 weeks or so, I'm off to WoW as well. 2/4 of my characters were completely killed by the nerf, and I refuse to buy them new armor, new skills, and new equipment. Farming was the only thing keeping me playing, and it's now denied to me. Good game, Anet... You just lost a very good customer: I've spent $100 on GW and the Guide. 1,211 hours. It's clear that PvE players are no longer welcome in Guild Wars, and so I take the hint, and take my money to a more open-minded company. For the record, I highly doubt I will ever purchase any GW expansions, but I was intending on purchasing all of them before this update. I may browse the Guru, and log on once every great while, but on the whole, I'm done with GW.

Well, say good-bye to my echo nuker.
The whole PvE game is based on maintaining aggro, and if thats not a possibility, I consider the game broken.
It's not "great, because we'll have to find a new way to blah blah, its interesting", all it means is that it will take a week before someone decides what the new flavor is to replace/aid AOE nukes... it's not like people are going to start inviting mesmers and rangers in PvE and balance it out so we're all a happy, singing-by-the-campfire family. Maybe groups will bring a water ele to freeze people in place before the nukers nuke, or have tanks bring attacks that cripple, but it definitely isn't going to be some revolutionary move that makes the game fun again for so-and-so. People will figure out what works best, and use that and only that until the next batch whines until that gets "nerfed" too. Lather, rinse, repeat.

Not just because it screws my PvE char over, which it does, but because it screws whole groups over... area's like FoW and UW were hard enough with stupid monsters and 2 dual echo nukers, having monsters ignore aggro and move around doing whatever they want doesn't sound like fun. Getting slaughtered at the entrance to an area isn't my idea of "challenging and interesting". I've yet to try this update out, so I don't know exactly how it works, maybe I'm overreacting... but if it renders my nukes useless because people whined about imbalances, I'm not happy. I made my echo nuker because he was a needed class, I ADAPTED to the game. Why does the game have to change for people? I don't necessarily mind adapting again, but who's to say that will last? How long will I play the next build before people decide that needs to go too?
After trying to get through the ROF missions with a hundred groups of morons, I can tell you the PvE game did not need to get any harder.

I played a fire ele because I ENJOYED it. Changing to Water/Earth would not be as fun (for me) as a different character class. Didn't they tell us that any was you chose to play could be viable, if only you had the skill to use it well? No longer true.

Wth man, it was fun with the way it was no need to add difficulty because playing with PUGS was difficult enough, and for people who say its "good" because other builds have a chance to play, well yes that is true but the common builds are the ones that do the most damage, now mission/quests will be longer and how stupid is it when monsters are attacking the monk and he throws up an AoE spell on himself then they run away? Atleast prices of runs should go down probably wont because now more people will be buying runs, I was gonna go back to pve but now I have a reason to stick to pvp i mean seriously who cares if people farm and get 1 million gold anyway? The overall purpose is just to buy armor/weapons to showoff not like there are godly unique items other than the greens

This update will make LOTS of loyal players that play the game for PvE switch to another game. I believe there are a few good points to it but
I just watched an Avicara run away from me when I used 100 blades and a minute later the same thing happened with final thrust...its total BS!!!
now I have 4 useless characters and I am not into PvP at all. as far as the running...great..now you can make the droks run...ahem..walk now with a level 5 (maybe a little sarcastic but hey)...excellent...level 5 players that wont kill but buy Ebay gold and get run through the entire game.....absolutely ridicuolous....A net is going to see a dramatic drop in purchases of this game and people playing the game...I'm sure everyone will adapt eventually but right now its crap and I might take a break from this "used to be fun" game..

is it me or are some mobs more sensetive to aoe nukes than other? some just stay there and move a little then back, some just run around like crasy wich is kinda stupid cus they are still in the aoe and not attacking and ive seen some that just run to the horison...

We have a winner. You are absolutely correct in all that you said. If Anet really cares about pve like they claim, they will reverse, or adjust this change as soon as possible. If not, they are so full of crap, that I can smell it from here. No sane person thinks that monsters ping ponging all over the map from an aoe spell is a good thing. Way to go, btw to Anet for completely undefining what aoe is intended. They better go and change all descriptions of the spells to something like: spend 25 energy, and then load up all your parties sprint skills, otherwise there is not a chance in hell you will actually be able to effectively deal damage for 10 seconds. This was a completely unnecessary dick move on their part.
Also to Anet, if you really hate farming this much, stop being such pussies, and come out and outright ban it, these pathetic attempts to curb it are just f****** up the rest of the game, and stop glorifying said attempts with some nonsensical bs.

Its official. The game is pretty near unplayable now. Ele's cant hit anything unless its one shot at a time. Monks can only heal now for the same reason. I have been searching for a game with dev's that listen to its players. I overlooked the fact that there were only 4 player slots per account unlike other games because there is no monthly charges and just purchased another copy of the game to create more slots. I've attempted to kill in a group with each of my characters and am disappointed to find out that everything runs when using even a basic AOE spell. Well Done.
I understand that you are attmepting crack down on farmers, unfortunatly this is hard to do without upsetting legit players such as myself. I would hate to think that people would leave the game because of this update, unfortunatly they will be. If you want to keep the game realistic... Work on the Merchants, prices etc. THATS where the work needs to be made. I would also ask that you adleast hint to updates that are coming down the pipe to prepair players (a test server perhaps) so that we arent purchasing new copies in time for an update that will make us quit GW.
I see this as another patch to prevent the creation of lvl's over lvl 20. I will say that i dont think this patch will be around very long. *looks into his crystal ball* i believe that the **** storm that will be coming down the pipe will be slightly overwhelming for arena. But we'll see. I have seen mighty games fall in the wake of updates "City of heroes, Wow, Everquest 1 & 2" and have played all until patches preventing me from otherwise. I believe the only thing that this game has going for it now is the fact that you dont pay 15 dollars a month to play it. But before long, that wont matter to ANYONE.
*Update* One more thing. If you are thinking of nerfing a power and its something other than how hard it hits.. just remove it. I believe you should remove every AOE spell in the game if your going ot make it hit 2% of the time.

When Kings dropped npc's recruit's to force more real players...
When green weapons were added...

I play a pure fire ele, I know need to do things a bit diffrenet or target diffrent. Not 100% sure. I will be testing stuff, trying some new stuff.
Try the new changes, test it out, I'm not sure it's all doom in gloom, It may be less effective now or play style is a bit diffrenet.

I'm glad these guys have made things a bit more realistic. Now I can watch these creatures cower in terror instead of gang up and stay ganged up when someone unleashes hell on them. Better still, now I can stop referring to henchies as meteor fodder.
All the more to bring back some roleplay aspect of this game.
Please. I've NEVER been a player to use one premade strategy until it stops working. I'll figure something out.

Ive found the older gamers tend to enjoy farming. it allows them to experiment with dyes and armor types and help out new players. hence I formed a guild of farmers all of us are 25+ and frankly PVP just pisses us off because all too often theres an iway team of 13y/o kids being rude and talking trash.
we all farmed with different builds using mainly AOE spells and collected on average from any run 1.5k in about 10 minutes thats less than an ecto per hour.... so you can see we didnt effect the economy in any horride way especially when our funds went to dye and runes ( as well as a lot of crafter weapons, theyre the best stats in game)
we all just got done talking about this in our hall..
and well we have some questions.
1. is it Anets goal to increase the buying and selling of in games items in violation of the EULA on ebay? because thats exactly what nerfing farming at this point does... ( take a look at e-bay and do a search on guild wars... the price will rise)
2. is it Anets goal to alienate a portion of adult players who enjoy the simplicity of farming?
this seems counter to our thoughts since we tend to be a very loyal game base and many of us had played diablo for FIVE YEARS PLUS... yet every patch seems to have an impact at farming... by reducing farming you in effect increase the EULA violations ( more people will now buy from e-bay sellers because its now difficult to gather any real quantity of gold to buy armors and dyes) remember the 25+ crowd have money.. we're are mostly professionals who own homes and play on-line games because well TV sucks...dont you want our money?
