There is a regular bear spawn (of 2 bears) just outside the iron mines mission, with good heal skillz you can tank everything there while you get a healer henchie to agro the bear and heal herself. Took me 1 minute!

I did the same thing, but didn't even bother with a healer. Just went out, waited for one of the bears to wander within range, bang!, new bear pet.

So, how does the bear compare to the snow wolf? I've finally gotten my wolfie up to a respectable level... trying to decide if it is worth backtracking to get the bear.

I am currently in the market for a pet and am thinking of hunting one down, I am in post searing and about level 12 I think. Any suggestions for type and location?

Why not charm a hog. I wonder how much damage they cause. Just think, you can have a unique pet .

The Iron Mine mission? which is that?

And, do these bears not do 'Break Charm' like the pre-searing bears?
Just wondering... since a couple of my buds have been harrassing me to help them get Black Bears from Wizard Folley.... we've had little success, despite following the other posts on the subject.... and im not too keen on wasting more of my life on this subject...

I tried the rabbit, it was "invalid spell target". As far as I can see, the rabbit is treated as an NPC by the game, not as an animal. The dot is a slightly different nuance of green than the tameable animals. You can't attack it either. Anybody tried to cast enchantment spells on it? You should be able to, if it really is treated as an NPC.

Here are some possibilities:

1) Just as "ambient life". But then, why is there only one?

2) Part of an unimplemented quest "please find my pet rabbit, sweet mighty ranger sir", or an extremely welll hidden quest.

3) An in-joke refering to the MUD/MMORPG tradition of killing rabbits for hours for the initial levels.

4) We will eventually be able to use the Tapestry to unlock a "secret rabbit level".

I believe most in #3.
