Very much liking this game so far, but a few ideas did come to mind which could make the game better. Not sure where to post this so I hope this is the best place. Comments would be nice:
Pet Ideas:
1. Pet Naming - Seen it in other MMORPG, how come we cannot give our new friend's names? Seems kind of sad to have a pet named "Bear" or "Wolf" following you about all the time. Would be nice to have this added in the future.
2. In Town Pet Viewing - in other words allowing us to see pets running about with people in towns! Again leading off from being able to see their names as well. So what happens if someone removes animal Charm in town? Easy, the pets walks off and disapears... no harming anyone.
3. Pet Trading - Again following on from idea number 2, wouldn't it be fun to trade and sale rare and powerful pets to people?
Interface Ideas:
1. Better Party Colours - often I lost track of party members in towns with so many green dots on the map, and a complete lack of party members indicators... would it be too much to ask to have party members in gold on the map? Or have a symbol over their head so we know who they are? We already ave a "!" over quest people, why not party members?
2. Muliple Chat windows - Would be handy to slip pure local spam, trading or party text into a different window completely to make better reading?
Quest Ideas:
1. QUEST SHARING - idea comes from World of Warcraft but what an idea... often I find myself running off on a quest with some guys, and only one person is doing that said quest! Would be great if the party leader could "share" their quests with other people. Sure it wouldn't work for all quests, but ones that involve "Go here and kill X" would be good... since it annoying not sharing in the fun
So what does everyone think?
Ideas: These would be useful greatly improve gameplay.

No... This is a firstime post for me...

You can already name your Ranger pets, type:
/petname Fluffy
and your pet will be called Fluffy. I think the only place it doesnt work is inside the PvP areas

Better Party Colours - Why do you need to know where your party is in town? Click their name on the party window and look at your map, they are now an enlarged green dot. Hard to miss. 2. Muliple Chat windows - Hit the tilde key. See the check marks next to the differant chat types? If you dont want to hear trade, uncheck trade, ect. Quest Ideas: 1. QUEST SHARING - Not to sound like a flaming bastard, but this isn't WoW. The quests in this game aren't exactly hard to find, or get a hold of. If someone is missing a quest, it isn't really hard to TP back to town, get it, and head back out again. -Edit in some answers |

well at least now i can name my pet,
and yes this isn't pokemon, it's Guild Wars, and we should be able to trade to other players.
and how about a kennel of sorts where you can stowe one pet away and use another to level it up.
that way you can have multiple pets, but you can only use one at a time.

I really like your pet ideas, and I actually would like to see what pets other people have and be able to trade them with other people, I think that would be great, as well as a place to store pets should you like to change them for whatever reason, if you lag because there are pets in town you either a) need a better connection, or b) need a better video card granted not everyone's rich (I had to save up forever just to get what I have now and it's not really all that great still) it's still doable

A place to store a single pet would be great.
And I fail to see what saying "This is not Pokemon" has to do with it.
So what? Would still be interesting to be able to trade, or even better sell your pets in trades!
Its not "catch them all", its gives people more options to do in game. Yes this game is all about hack and slash and fighting at the moment. But don't see why people are worried about other features other then fighting being added in.

can't have pet trading
reason being:
Lvl 20 trades a bear to a lvl 3
what good are beast mastery skills then
if a lvl 20 wants a bear that another player has... Get off your bum and go charm one.
Please people, think before you hit the new thread button. You will save me tons of time roaming through useless threads.

I am sure there are more reasons you would not want rare and powerfull pets in game. But as far as tradeing regular pets..... The game is set to be balanced and easy to obtain pets, why would we need to trade them?

Personally I don't want to be flooded with pets in a town, almost every ranger I come across for a group, and I generally don't attempt to find any honestly so I might have 1 or 2 max, has a pet with em. If these were turned on then it would just be too much I think, and while you could have a turn em off option, I think it would be more hassle than worth.
Pet type trading however should work, if there was the inclusion of a few more difficult to find and rarities among the creatures themselves. With the current list, anyone on their first day can practically get anything besides a Warthog (I believe Kryta only for charmable) or a Lizard (Crystal Desert), so it wouldn't be very effective. But, include a few more types, then include variances to them, different colors and patterns, I remember sitting at Britain bank for three hours waiting for a damn green Ostard, when people passed by with everything else, it could certainly add something. If the level got retracted to the player's current or something, it wouldn't be overpowering to include it, though the system should be balanced.
Better party colors I don't see as being necessary, since it isn't as though you really meet up, and it is rather obvious where they are in almost every town, Isee them quite fine.
Chat windows though, definetly include them. A few people keep talking about just removing channels, but that is sheer trolling. When trade is being spammed by general, team, guild, and whispers, trade just quickens its own spamming to move those. I don't want to miss people who want to join or have a team for quests, or what my current team might be saying for our plans and who to get, and of course not my guild, or what people are actually sending me messages for, but I also don't want to miss a deal. I say allow the division of everything into a seperate window if you want, no reason not to, not like you are fighting inside a city, just reduce it back down for missions.
And a definite yes on quest sharing, as I've said before Guild Wars is about convenience, if it isn't hard to go find these quests, then why not make it that much easier? Don't force people to find this exact person int his place then come back and rejoin the group, or what about multiple quest groups? Have had a few, and we've had people leave because they didn't have it, no way to get em back except to leave and reset the place or move ourselves further away, which there is an obviously flaw in.
As well, a very good system from City of Heroes was the leader's ability to flag a quest, to let everyone know we are going the same way. Everyone could potentially click someone else's quest and see an arrow indicator on their minimap, but why not, for convenience sake, have the leader post it up for all to see, meaning you could now keep tabs on your own quest you may care more about.
And just to note, almost none of those actually improve gameplay, they improve game experience.
