Why do people insist on buying clean items?

I realise they have their own mods to put on the item, but you can overwrite mods. It's like they don't want an item that meets their description but has some crap mods like 10/6 sunder and +3 armor and insist on clean weapons instead. *shrugs*

Could it be that they atomatically think clean items are cheaper??

I mean: paying extra for a mod that you don't need doesn't make sense.

How many clean perfect weapons (15>50 or similar) are out there anyway? It's really hard to find a clean perfect because I think they usualy have at least some mod (even a crappy one) on them. And if they don't, people usualy add "perfect" mods to increase their price even more.
Personaly, I would never buy a 10/10 +30 weapon, but if the mods are bad and don't affect the price, that's great, I don't need a completely clean one.

But most people who are selling 15>50 req 8's don't include the cost of crap mods into their price anyway, yet buyers still insist on clean items.

I think its more collectors.. or just the look that shutters..

a clean crystaline sells quite well... almost as good as a perfect weapon on occasion...

Simple. It's already been mentioned, and it's the only reason I buy clean, and buy for dirt cheap --> You don't pay for mods you don't need, clear, cut, and simple. Unless you want to salvage it and he's selling for dirt low, thats the only time I can see it being worse to buy a clean.

Sometimes it's just semantics, other times lack of knowledge, and even more often, both. Over the weekend, I saw someone selling a max fellblade for 4k (I guess I've been giving them away when I sell them for .5-1k clean, and sometimes max). I thought, of all the fellblades I have, none had bonuses so I would be interested if it had something like an enchanted bonus. So I asked if the fellblade had any bonuses, the reply was, "it has +5 AC vs physical, but I'm selling it as a clean". Huh? So I replied that I was asking about any bonuses, not any mods (since it was "clean"). And the answer was an appologetic no and the person still insisted that she was selling it as a clean... To make a long story short, both buyer and seller have to make things perfectly clear before they can really communicate effectively.

i guess some ppl are just too dumb to realize that clean weps (such as 15>50 weapons) are much rarer than even ones with crap mods like G.S. said allready but i honestly dont know why ppl are like this not to long ago i saw a guy in lions arch looking for a 15>50 gold crystalline (lol) how stupid can he be... and ive never found and crystalline swords at all and ive played gw for allmost 6 months :\ eh whatever some ppl are just stupid

Agreed. People need to understand that a 'clean' item means that it has no upgrades on it (the kind you can switch out), even if it has inherent bonuses (15>50, etc)

Never mod a weapon to increase it price. I perfer to buy clean items because i hate to pay more for the so called "leet" mods. That is why i perfer "clean" weapons.
