What should I make my secondary?

I was thinking possibly Mo/Me or Mo/E.

Mesmer is usually the best option for energy management. Drain enchantment, Channeling, Inspired Hex, power drain and so on.

Necro offers Well of Blood and Offering of Blood, but that will come later in the game. You could start out mo/me and change to mo/ne after ascending.

i would go monk-mesmer cause my main is a mesmer, but as a dedicated healer, you won't have any attribute points spare for 2ndary, and even less for a 2ndary class skill. so my suggestion is being pure monk.

think of a 8 skill build, make it like 7 for the forsaken rez spell or sig, and you get fewer options to mess with from another class.

important things on a healer (other than healing...) is condition and hex removal; tho you can live without them, they should be around quite often in your builds (more so if you pvp) since they are a monk's task to remove, imho, and also cause you will save alot of energy by taking care of a bad hex rather than just healing while it does its damage.

so that leaves you with 5 skill slots, which doesn't leave much room for a 3rd attrib line spell.

focus on healing, divine favor and maybe a bit of protection. if you dont use protection, maybe you could get an extra line for the mesmer line, lets say inspiration and get an interupt spell for energy or something, but i doubt its the best thing to do, mainly in pvp.

well, good luck!

ps : dont forget divine favor !

PvE may be different than PvP but I certainly don't ever want to see my primary healer with a res spell. His job is to heal the, rest of the team can rez. Having your healer rez is a waste of time and resources.

Generally the role of the prot monk...but if you only have one monk you need to play jack of all trades. Converse with your team...make sure someone has a condition remover and a hex remover.

The mesmer line offers a great deal of energy management skills for the monk class. It's worth investing at least some of your attribute points into your mesmer secondary(or any secondary for that matter) to keep up with energy demands.

A heal monk should never be worried about protecting. Trying to play both prot monk and heal monk is going to leave you just shy of being effective at either of them. If you're heal go all out Healing Prayers and stack Divine Favor for that extra boost. If you're a Prot Monk you should max out Protection and look for a secondary line that compliments your skills and whatever you can manage in Divine Favor...as a Prot monk healing isn't your job.

I wouldn't listen to that. If you're doing pvp, NEVER go with a res spell. ALWAYS bring energy management, if you're heal monk, you usually dont bring condition removal since prot monks take care of it, however, hex removal is usually brought by both, healing and prot monks. Since you're new to monks, you should focus on either healing or protecting, not both. Also, do bring mesmer inspiration skills like the ones i mentioned earlier, and bring inspiration to 9-10. That should be enough. Channeling is such an awesome skill. That alone will be enough for energy management in PvE. Healers' attributes usually end up looking something like this. Healing Prayers 16, Inspiration Magic, 9-10 Divine favor 10-11. Hope this helps.

I have a Mo/E, and I think it's a great combination for PvE (possibly for PvP play too, but I wouldn't know). If setting out by yourself with a group of henchmen, you can bring an offensive spell or two with you just for fun. When playing with others though, I primarily use healing, divine favor, and earth magic. Kinetic Armor and Ward Against Melee are great.
