More patrols in FoW?

I hadn't been to FoW for a couple of weeks when I took a group of guildies in for their first time this past weekend... anyway, we cleaned out the initial area fine, went round to the left and cleared that, moved back and took the right, then waited for the patrol.

Right on cue, in it comes from the south, no worries, we start taking it down. Then another patrol came in from the west... Oh. My. God. There must've been 10-15 monsters in there... someone shouted "omg 4 monks!" We were raped. Luckily one person escaped and was able to res us.

It was a good group (4 guildies and 4 PUG), well balanced, people were obeying calls, aggro control was great... we were totally owned!!!

As I said, it had been a while since I went there, so was this a fluke or have there been changes?

The four monk group is always there, although I've never heard of it coming up that far when the patrol comes from the path to the beach. There are two patrols that contain 5-6 guys that circle around those four monks.

Not sure what you did to get them mad, but I would highly advise not doing it again.

Is he talking about the 4 monks in the valley near the tower? There's usually a chest down there

Same as in the Temple of Ages, except you kneel in front of the Balthazar Statue and make an offering of a platinum to that avatar instead.

these patrols are just a random factor of spawn, happened to me tonight

Other than some spell changes and additions, I have not seen any major differences in spawns since before the SF update. There's nothing "random" except sometimes a group spawns slightly back more (after the first Rastigan quest, the mesmer/elemental shadows will fight the mesmer/elemental undead). Mostly everything is triggered, like the groups that come from the beach.

ive noticed thats the spells now aggro everything in site, esp. Ele's when they do there thing every dam monster in fow comes a running WTF!! And its not a random thing its happened quite afew times were we pull a group out and start to take them down, when a whole other group shows up to join the party, no big deal we were prepared but dam totally caught us off guard the first time!! But it happened again last night!! is it spells that are doing it or is it related to the improvements of the game by the dev;s???

other than that love the fow, one day ill get a chance to clear it out with a bunch of cool peeps, i ve heard it takes 6-7 hours to clear out ill have to take a day off to do it!! LOLOLOL

With my initial build E/Mo I earned most of the 1.5mil exp she has from doing FoW runs and it's all static - meaning that unless you agro a group accidentally while fighting or running from another......that 4 monk group shouldn't come anywhere near you.

There are triggers/traps like that damned chest! Don't know how many groups I've been in that wanted crack at it and figured we could take the monks out with no problem......yeah well when the shadow beasts spawn at the first footfall in the area......you're doomed!!
