A lot of people are highly doubting it though.
glenn_rolfe
it was posted in a playboy type mag.......I don't think Anet would be posting in there.
Lies.
Lies.

That's actually a very clever way of getting info out. I'd probably go pick up a copy if I knew which one it was.

Link doesn't work OH THAT'S RIGHT I PURPOSEFULLY JOINED TO GET BANNED FROM TGH XD

For those that can't see it, here's the magazine article in question;

:O Which magazine was it?
I like the way they kept the female Guild Wars figure: fairly proportioned with good posture.
Lol, look at the amount of people looking at this thread.

I'm sure Gaile will post something soonish...if nothing else to take a break form all the patch "discussion".

BAH! She needs bigger breasts.
Sekkira
I don't get it though. You mention assassin in an RPG and people go "OMG A NINJA". Ninjas aren't the only assassin in existance. There are plenty of other assassins varying from each culture.
Hot Dead
The new character class looks good, but if its like the WoW rogue then not really worth playing (unless you are bord of the current classes).
If this is true, will the Assassin start in Pre-Searing Ascalon or what?

Still wondering why you post this sort of thing here, Overnite, as you seem to have such disdain for people who like Guild Wars? Isn't there something better to do with your time? Would just beating them in PvP not be more interesting?
Not sure if this news about a new class is in any way genuine. But who knows... I would not mind such a class at all.

Wow, She's hot! I wonder what kind of profession it will be xD
Can't wait.

I don't know.. it could be a photoshop, but if more then one people have that magazine.. I'm really wondering how an assassin could work other then single target skills and possibly group blind/bleeds. Oh well, I loved assassins in DII, so if its true, I'm most likely going to make one here also.
Xa Panda
duel wielding :P
Tactical-Dillusions
Attributes?
Martial arts?
Agility?
Blades/duel wielding?
Stealth?
Sneaky chat up lines, intoxicating love potions and fairy dust?
Where's Gaile? lol, I have to be up early...late for bed already and the rumour of the month is running rampant!

Sounds like a bad idea to me. Guild Wars already has all the basic classes covered -- so what will the "Assassin" be..??
Some kind of Warrior "Elite" class..?? ( aka LoD or NwN Expansions )
Will the introduction of the "Assassin" make the Warrior class redundant..??
I can already make an "Assassin"-type character with the beauty of the dual-class system -- why type-class it..??
I'm gonna remain sceptical

I remember hearing that the ranger was going to have stealth a long time ago. They could have removed it in order to make the assassin. Also I wonder what the male version looks like, and I hope we get a ninga mask!
Weapons to choose from, throwing stars, dagger, and katana.

anyone read this section of the artical?
Nika's home was a land of tremendous trade. It was not uncommon for travelers and merchants from far-off exotic locales to find their way to its bustling, cosmopolitan shores.
sounds like the new area that will introduce the assasin will allso contain the trading system weve all been waiting so long for.
if any of it's true that is.

How will the ability to duel wield be offset by a penalty that:
A- Won't make Warriors redundant
B- Won't make Assassins overpowered
C- Won't make the Assassin redundant ( in other words duel-wielding does the same damage as a single wielding Warrior -- making it a pointless cosmestic change )
It's all moot at the minute anyways, we don't know if this is true -- or whether the "Assassin" will be a PvE only class.
Aracos79
Well I'm sure they'll have a much lower overall AL than warriors. How many assassins wear plate mail?
Perhaps they'll get bonus damage against targets that aren't aggro on them.

If that is the case, it sounds more to me that they will be able to dish out some horrid dps with duel weild melee, but be quite weak AL wise anyway. Possibly even more so than the casters. This would make this quite interesting.

The scans are clearly real enough - as to why Arenanet's publisher would advertise, it is likely that they released their information to several magazines at once, and this was simply the first to print. Such things as magazine schedules are not in the developer or publishers control, and when information is released it tends to go to a couple different sources to (hopefully) create more of a media blitz.
As such, I would expect to see more articles with more information popping up over the next few weeks.
As far as the class itself, there really isn't any information here, but I'll be interested to see how they plan to implement it. A class based around striking before the opponent knows you are there is inherently flawed gameplay perspective because it isn't any fun to be ganked by an invisible opponent with no chance to react, or to easily be slain by an opponent after you miss with your one-gank strike.
On the other hand, sniper rifles remain common in FPS games, and they work off the exact same mechanic as WoW-style rogues. I like to think Arenanet will avoid that style of gameplay, but that remains to be seen.

I cant really read the print on the scan but does it say that the class has dual weilding or are people just speculating because of the concept art? Let me tell you that concept art isn't always accurate....plus we've seen Devona dual wield in the trailer movie...doesnt mean warriors can dual wield.
EternalTempest
If you look at the early concept screen shots it show's Cynn weilding two rods (can't find it now ><) and other images implied dual weapons. I think it was developed but pulled early on.
Not sure to belive this but everyone's right, more stuff should start showing up if it's true.

I have found that men tend to like looking at more developed women, but tend to like dating women of a more "manageable" size.
Yamat
I'm not sure the fact she's holding a bunch of throwing knives in her hands suggests she can dual wield... those are all knives in her hands (like the ones in the sheath on her thy).
She's a ranger with shorter range and the stealth skill that was removed from our rangers!

I think it's more like Claw weapons designed to be on both hands. Either way though, you'd have to calculate hits seperately or it'd look strange.
Aracos79
I wonder if ANet is taking another crack at implementing some kind of stealth skill/attribute.
