What skills are a must for stable builds? what is your favorite combo? Keep in mind by the previous questions I mean skills, not builds. You can post builds if it's relevant to the skills.

any help, is appreciated. Just started a Me/N <level 9 now>

Me/N

Staple Mesmer:

Diversion
Backfire
Energy Burn
Empathy
All Hex/Enchantment removals
All Interrupts
Favorite Energy recovery skill
Mantra of Resolve (more useful in PvP than PvE)
Arcane Conundrum
Soothing Images/Sympathetic Visage
Distortion
Echo/Arcane Echo

Staple Necro:

Enfeeble/Enfeebling Blood
All Enchantment removals
Spiteful Spirit
Rigor Mortis
Weaken Armor
Shadow of Fear

I lean towards Domination/Inspiration/Curses, but I'll also use Illusion or Blood on occasion, too.

Not renewal, ritual... battery-ing feeding allies energy so they are more effective.

As for staple skills, diversion, arcane theivery, power drain, signet of humility, and res sig are the basis of a lot of the builds im using at the moment.

For specifically anti-attacker, soothing images, spirit shackles, and sympathetic visage are all staple. Mind wrack/Conjure phantasm/parasitic bond or similar to cover. In ca, spirit of failure is always a possibility.

For anti-caster, power leak, power spike, power block [e] are your best bet, but if its ca dont think twice about backfire and the like.

For energy denial (and your not using debilitating shot... which you should) then go energy surge/energy burn/mind wrack... its around 270 damage and -20 energy, which is alright. Follow up with power leak and then some energy management.

Curses isnt required really for anti-stuff. Good for a necro with spare time to invest in, or if your lone against lots of warriors (iway) shadow of fear is great. Usually though, in 8v8.... soothing images/shackles/visage is what you need, so me/n generally goes fast casting/inspiration/line
where line is illusion, domination, blood, or curses. Not often death though.

Remember mantra of persistance if you can fit it in, a lot of people forget about it.

I made a Me/N

I think I only use 1 skill on the Necro side which is Price of Failure

my other skills are Spirit of Failure, Power Block, Cry Of Frustration, Power Drain, Arcane Conundrum, Chaos Storm(which Im been meaning to get rid of with the recent patch) and a res signet

works fine for me

Price of Failure and Spirit of Failure makes enemies have a 25% chance of missing with attacks

so I usually use those on different melee characters

Price damages one when they miss, Spirit recharges energy when the other misses

Cry of Frustration works on all skills, so Ill usually use those on anybody... helps with Warriors using a healing sig

Arcane Conundrum makes spell casters take longer to cast, which leaves them open to use Power Drain(which replenishes energy when it interrupts) and Power Block(which disables all the skills of the attribute you interrupted) and you can even use Cry of Frustration here to interrupt everybody in the area and have a better chance of doing so

Chaos Storm use to be fun to use, but with the recent patch its mostly more fun to use to get them to stay away from you, heh... I might replace it with Ether Feast to have some kind of Health replenishing

I have 8 in Fast Cast(+1 with a rune)
11 in Domination(+2 with the mask and rune)
10 in Inspiration(+1 with a rune)
8 in Illusion(+1 with a rune)
and 9 in curses

the necromancer skill spinal shivers works wonders when combined with mesmer inspiration staples (i personally like power drain, leech sig, and drain enchantment) and as long as youre using curses you can use parasitic bond, which throws a selfheal into the mix. im currently running a very powerful build in pvp using the following:

Attributes

-12 inspiration (10 + major rune)
-13 illusion (11+1 mask+1 minor)
-10 curses
-2 fast casting (1+minor)

Skizzles

-conjure phantasm
-migraine (thats elite capped in perdition)
-power drain
-leech sig
-drain enchantment
-parasitic bond
-spinal shivers
-rez sig

if you cast shivers and migraine on a caster and if you are wielding a necro cold weapon, you can keep them on pretty much permanent lockdown. drain enchantment gives you the ability to remove annoying enchantments and gives you a steady influx of energy with power drain and leech sig (alternate the last two as your interrupts instead of attacking to interrupt) to maintain spinal shivers, which should last for a good 30 seconds. phantasm, migraine, and parasitic bond will give your opponent -9 regen, 1 away from max and causing them to panic, and bond provides a cover hex and selfheal. all of your hexes will last pretty long and everything (apart from the inspiration stuff) has pretty quick recharge. if shivers gets taken out of action or something u can still be an interrupter with migraine+ power drain leech sig. if youre good enough, you can keep two casters on lockdown by switching targets and interrupting onne with your attack+shivers and keeping migraine on the other and interrupting the him with power drain/leech sig.

.......not sure as of yet if this is a more effective caster shutdown than my mesmer using power block+all mesmer skills.
also having the offhand "the rockmoulder" helps helps this build out with its 20% chance recharge on all your skills and chance illusion magic boost.
