I support ANet, and there plans for expansion. If they wish to incorporate Assassin, more power to them, I agree. Make another class.

However, there are so many whiners, it gets frustrating.

"They will be to overpowered!"
-Yes, of course, ANet will intentionally make them overpowered, and doesn't know how well/bad they have been incorporated into games /sarcasm
Give them a chance first, my God, they only announced that there WILL be one, you guys don't even know all the skills, attributes, etc.

"It's unoriginal"
-They are just as original as Warriors, Rangers, Elementalists, etc
See a trend?

"I will leave if this is incorporated"
-First, if you don't want expansion, don't buy it. Noones forcing you
-Second, try it out first, or see how it is once it comes out
-If your just going to leave because something like this has been announced, good riddance, see you later. It will be easier for me to find people online who are probably more mannered anyways.

Besides, there is always another class that they will be making too. There are so many RPGs out there, its kind of hard to come up with a whole new class. I think warriors/rangers/eles/monks are even more common.

Keep the new content rolling ANet, and don't get down because of dissenters.

Especially considering that ANet has been constantly nerfing skills since release - how could anyone consider anything they might come out with in the future "overpowered"?

Don't let it bug you. People who're upset come to forums to vent. People who aren't upset are playing the game or doing something constructive with their time. For every person complaining/whining about something, there're probably 10 off in the shadows who feel the same way. For every person voicing support and making a positive post, there are probably 100 off in the shadows who feel the same way.

i will still buy the expainsion as i love the game, and its been about 3 months entertainment for £30, wont knock that.

But

I was still hoping for something different, but who knows what will happen.

and
im not happy with the way this last patch was handled,AT ALL.

Dont get me wrong, im the whinging champion (well not really), but i still love the game.

And even if im not happy with some things, im STILL going to buy the expainsion as i think this game has more than satisfied me to justify buying it.

(EDIT, some people like me just LIKE to complian if i dont like something)

I'll buy the expansion but i'll not use Assassin cuz 99.9999% says that A-Net will nerf Assassin's special abilities (Cloak, steath, whatever) which would pissed people off and in turn made people forget about this class.

Still, Assassin in a fighting game? huh?

The concept of another class in itself sounds edgy to me. We have a team of 8 right now, with people filling very specific roles within those 8 slots. The question now is, how will the introduction of 2 (we assume 2) new classes affect the roles of the existing classes. How can 8 different professions exist together in the 8 man team without making at least some of those classes redundant? I would like to see the introduction of new forms of both PvP and PvE as an answer to this. For example, outside of specialised builds we do not see primary necros due to the problems with soul reaping and their skills in general, yet in tombs we need a necro primary for either corpse denial (wells/putrids), orders (spikers) etc. this emphasis then shifts away from necros in GvG somewhat to runner/snarer/movement hinderer who are ranger or ele water. I would like to see additional forms of PvP which would put an emphasis on different classes, otherwise the quantity of professions threatens to make them redundant.

To be fair they've let some really...bad things slip in the past. Stacking aura? Smiting with draw? Ether Renewal? Smiting with draw even after they nerfed it? Ranger interrupt spiker? Battle Rage+Frenzy? Then theres the big list of elites and skills which just about has little to no use whatsoever.

I think the main problem is one of roles again. For example how will they melee when a warrior has the option to melee using either energy or adrenaline? To go DPS or spike? To condition/knocklock or raw damage. Again I hope they go all the way and incorporate new conditions, new effects, entirely new and comprehensive game mechanics.

The way they've been implemented into Guild Wars certainly is not all that common. I personally think they've done a rather good job with rangers, this is one of the more murkily defined "fudge" classes which most MMORPGs seem to feel compelled to include to please the masses. Anet has done a good job on them, I'm feeling hopeful.

Why bother? On every decision there are people opposing. Anyway, I'll support Anet if they use half the profit they make on GW for develloping a real fantasy MMORPG where PvE and PvP meet in 1 world where everybody plays

I think A.Net is probably the best game company so far. I haven't played many online games (free ones) but I like how A.Net is constantly updating the game.

I also don't understand why people are angry at "nerfs". There is a reason why they nerf certain skills and why they boost certain skills. It's for the balance of the game. I don't think anyone is going to be sorry just because your solo smiting monk got nerfed.

The game of course isn't perfect. There is no such thing as "perfect" in this world.

I will buy the expansion and if they've decided to add Assassin, shall be it. I know I'll still love my pet. hehe

This thread happens to be a whine itself. Typical fanboy whine about people whining, nothing new.

I will buy the next chapter. True, I don't like everything they have done, but it's a good value of a game -- Can't really complain.

I agree with qwe4rty. Keep up the good work Anet. My guild shared the fears expressed by many in this forum ("They will be either overpowered or useless"), but Anet knows about assassin/rogue problems in other games, they will make this one work. One of my guildies pointed out that assassins thend to attract the 'munchkins', as he called it. He may be right, but that will just mean less munchkins playing other professions. The game as a whole will not suffer.

As a matter of fact, there is research done about that (important for companies trying to determine how their product is received based on the number of complaints they get), which supports this general statement.

Explain this to me, plz, Overnite. I have seen you troll in this and other forums a lot. You use the term fanboy in every one of them, I think (there are fangirls too, btw). What is the kick you get out of trolling?

How many BWE's did guild wars have before release? And how many skills needed to be balanced? I believe we shall see almost daily updates to fix overpowered or underpowered skills with the new classes once they release chapter 2. It is the fact that ANet will fix most of them that means I don't bother complaining.

If I wanted to troll you, you'd never know what hit you. And this community is very susceptible to that. It also seems to have the term "troll" mixed up with someone who does not lick Anet's ass all the time.

I can't criticize ANet for the assasin until I see it for myself in the next chapter. However I would be wary if they introduce a new land called the Forgotten Realms.....

Ok, Overnite, your gripe seems to be with people like me who think Anet's devs made a very good game and who have confidence in the way they will handle the game's development in the future - and who feel compelled to express that. The tendency to do so is common in human nature. On forums such as these, many people complain about lots of things. Many of these complaints are not really well-considered or fair. So I when reading them, I often feel the urge to 'defend' Anet. So did qwe4rty, I suppose. I am sure Anet does not need defending, but that is just how my motivational system works. Something like that happens when you support a team and cheer when it wins a match and dislike it when others complain about the music/books/fims of your favorite singer/band/composer/author/director being crap This is true for many people. You may consider us 'lickers of behinds', but we cannot all be angry players with a deep-rooted dislike for all things Anet.

Maybe we are wrong to like this game, but many of us do. Sorry about that. If you feel that you are better then us by telling us that we are pathetic fanboys, so be it. Knock yourself out. No need to threaten me with the genuine trolling treatment, I do know what trolls are like.

And the term "people" seems to have been mixed up with someone kissing his own ass all the time. Or maybe it's the guy he's following.

Forums are about open expression on the provided topic. That's his opinion so just respect it, don't start an arguement. That is basically the problem with every forum, people always feel the need to critize. Not taking sides or saying you are wrong or anything, just telling it like it is.

Anyway, I agree with the qwerty even though he could of just posted this in the actual assasin thread lol. I don't see the problem that this would cause with an individuals role in a party. It is just the fact that people in this game are addicted to the two monk, 2-3 warrior, 2 ele parties. Granted they are able to succeed but doesn't mean that there aren't better combos that can be used. I am kinda tired and probably misinterpreted someones post up there so bear with me on this lol.

I agree to most of this thread, though some loop holes can always be found... like in the US Bill of Rights and such (Did you know that the 19th and 20th ammendments were never signed by Woodrow Willson? ).

As for the discussion of opinion, when attacking (making fun of, giving names, etc...) someone or their post you lose that right to voice an opinion. Since you are not really voicing a civilized opinion in any real manner and are just simply bashing someone's post. Heck you have the right to bear arms but you still don't have the right to shoot someone... boy bad analogy.

Some will enjoy it, some will hate it, some will praise it, some will trash it, and then some will go out after they're done and try to find a prostitute for some end-of-night fun (I know, it's ridiculous, like paying monthly for an online game!).

C'est la vie.

People are whining? I haven read the thread that thouroghly, but from what I garnered from the start that you have to admit that you'all will probably discuss every last freekin detail to the point that alot of people will be dissapointed when they finally get to play her.

I think the Assassin sounds pretty good, but bowing down and thanking Anet for is a little much. I can only hope she has some pretty frosty stealth skills.
