New Class - Monster Tamer/Rider/Dragoon (With pics)
Dahl
Some of you may have seen me making class suggestions, and I always felt that I couldn't give a good enough description. So I went through the trouble of attempting to DRAW what I was thinking. It was quite a bit harder than I thought:
I had to:
a) Draw a nice pic of a drake. (alone)
b) color and shade it properly, just so that i know whether or not it will look okay when finished.
c) Draw it (again) except a bit ower on the page, and add in the new class riding the Drake, then shade that properly as well.
I do admit that I can't draw humans very well, and the Drake didn't turn out that great on my second pic (the first one with the drake standing alone was rather impressive) However I used a webcam, and not a scanner, so Small details (such as its teeth) may be hard to see. But here it is.
Please let me know what you think.

yeah that would be cool if you could tame a monster and use the skills that it normally uses
twicky_kid
anet has already said they have no intention of incorporating mounts, ever.
Dahl
No.. not use its skills becuase that would make a Dragoon really an elementalist. This would probably be for drakes only, possibly hydras.
The best way I see it, is much like a ranger, you have your own skills, then beast skills. To make this different, there should be dragon skills, except that you gain these skills from having higher Dragon Skill attribute. For example.
Dragon Skill - 1 (skill A unlocked)
Dragon Skill - 2 (Skill A and B unlocked) etc, and when you take points off, the skills lock back up. However you don;t need to set them onto your skills bar, it will just perform them on its own. Dragon Skill would probably be the primary attrribute.

this class cant be made unless there are wandering monsters in future pvp areas.
Dahl
as a normal player when you start out, you have only yourself, no drake.
But, if you make a pvp-only character, you could be given a choice of drake in the select skills menu.

But still, it's cool in theory, but work it out some more: what skills? Sprites meshing together sounds good: but think..why not just use one sprite with different animations for top/bottom? Lot better. This idea has potential, work on it man.
Dahl
This isn't finalized obviously. It's an "idea". This is just to brainstorm with. of course this isn't anet material yet.
And of course not all aspects of this will be considered. However this may give them the idea to introduce some kind of spearman or lancer or however you want to word it. But now that I think about it, riding a drake would be impossible since it would have to increase the cell range a lot, making body blocking easy.. *cough* monks/priest/ghostly hero.

I got my Chibi Dragoon! (line art by me, color by Sparr)
I don't see mount any problem as a attribute for a class. Here is an old one I written http://www.guild-hall.net/forum/showthread.php?t=622 (which is really out of date) If have time, hope to really revise it sometime....
Nice drawing BTW
darkdragon99
that is so freaking cute i love the idea of being able to ride a small dragon even if it doesn't speed you up or give you any other bonuses it would just look cool
Dahl
Does... anyone else think this looks like a Maple Story character? hahaha
The undead Mesmer
It would be cool if it whill involve things like that cute picture :3
Sit on your little dragon and you slash and hack yourself and you can use skills that your dragon uses like Breath of the fury? or something like that it whill work in the same way as pets he levels along with you and when points invested in a certain attribute he whill become stronger or less stronger.
It whill also use up 2 skills in the skillbar xD

Like I said, and Like ANet said, they will NOT be using mounts, therefore your dragon would not level seperately. You still take the damage, not the dragon. He can do nothing but attack, and the attack power and attack skills are entirely based on your skill bar. In fact I think that the dragon should not attack at all unless you specifically use a skill, as the lancer would undoubtedly be powerful already.

Mounts are best left in the classics.
