Question on Endangered Species Quest

I was just wondering if there is a way to do the quest without losing your current pet? I have a lvl 8 wolf right now, and i dont want to lose him cause im afraid that theres no wolf in Old Ascalon, but i need the tame a Stalker to do the quest for Tente.

Unfortunately, you lose your current pet, which is why I haven't done this quest. But you can get Snow Wolves once you get to the Shiverpeak areas, so if you didn't mind losing your current pet, you can eventually get a wolf again.
