Ascalon chests?

I see people who have completed the game runnign to chest in ascalon, and i see other people saying u get perfect upgrades there.
Im confused:

1. isnt ascalon the low lvl area of the game and why would u get perfect upgrades?

2.Where are these chests? are they hard to get to? is it worth it? chances of gettign a perfect upgrade? maybe a map?

3.Why rae people always goign char hunting at lvl 20, arent they like lvl 1? im confused - help help

1- I don't think you can get perfect upgrades, but some close to perfect.

2- Chests appear randomly through the game. They're very random, have no special location. You never know what they'll drop. It's all up to luck.

3- Charr Carvings maybe, I don't really know.

1. It is and I've never seen a perfect from the Ascalon chests.
2. Random.
3. I do if:
- I've changed my 2nd and now have a quest, like to find the dead soldiers badges.
- I need to collect some materials.
- Or just for the charr-stomping fun of it. Do the Ft Ranik mission and instead of using the catapult go down into the charr camp and wipe 'em out. Or try to beat all the charr in the GNW mission before time runs out.
- Er...because you can?

1. I would guess that you are less likely to get perfect upgrades in Ascalon, but because the keys are so much cheaper, you can test your luck more often.

2. Chests are randomly placed these days, just run around holding down 'Alt' and you should find some.

3. People hunt char for their hides, the meat is useless, but the hides make good fur slippers.

1)Ascaonlian chests... doubt they r good.. not max... MAYBE im not sure... the chests in the last day dawns quest? kinda in school so not sure. if u wanan go chest farming.. best place is outside of port sledge.. grab henchies.. kill grawl.. and about 5 chest per run.

2)as for chests its random.. BUT ITS A DEFINITE.. to find abouut 3-5 outside of port sledge.

3) as for the charr.. quest from forge.. Last Day Dawns.. outside of Frontier Gate r lvl 24 charr. its like killing stuff and getting drops like from or near forge area etc.

1.Yes, it is. And no, probably not, on the off chance you do, congrats.
2. The chests appear anyplace east of the shiverpeaks <speaking in ascalonian territory, not the desert!>
3.Charr hides. Plain and simple. There's this nice "money making" scenario, if you 'farm' charr hides, there's an ascalon collector who takes 4 and gives you a Fur square. you do the math. 4x5=20gold to vendors or 4+handed in to collector = 150+gold with a rare crafting matieral. Then they mass hand-in and drop the market on fur squares.

I've gotten a +30 hale staff head from a Krytan (or maybe northern shiverpeak, I can't remember) chest, so I would assume that it is, at least in theory, possible to get an extremely valuable rare item from the Ascalon chests. However, from my observations of those chests, you're probably going to get fifty 7-12 +5% fast casting purple necro staffs before you ever see something that is any good from an ascalon chest. If you find a key, you might as well use it, but I wouldn't waste my money on them.

Ive been through hundreds of keys for all chests including fow and uw and have NEVER found anything with a max upgrade!! Not to say i havent found good items just nothing uber!!

You, My friend, have bad luck. I've gotten plenty of max grips/pommels from UW/FoW chests, and I've picked up some nice "overall" weapons from the shiverpeaks. It's all on random-generator probability.

i wonder why, get a lot more furs from the centaurs in the desert.
like 40 to 50 furs an hour. farming Charrs for furs seems to be a slow
profitable way.
